English gets hot as '77 Dolphins win
Kevin Giddis had 14 of his 15 points in the fourth quarter for the 3-2 Dolphins. 1972 - Tommy Pugh had 22 points, while Ed Daniel had 14 and David Napier 10 in a Dolphins' win. 1982 - Christian Knorr scored twice, including the game-winner for the Dolphin soccer team in a 5-4 overtime win. Eric Burgin, Everett Fenner and Peter Pohlmann all scored once. Steve Gouner scored 31 points and grabbed 10 rebounds in a 67-58 loss to Harrison Central (Gulfport, Miss.) in the Gulf Breeze Optimist Tournament. Ken Hardy added 13 points. Gouner and Harley, who both made the All Tournament team, scored 18 and 14 respectively in a 69-67 loss to Catholic in the consolation game. Mark Taylor added 17 points, while Jim Tringas had 13. Kelly Hippert scored 24 points and grabbed 14 rebounds in the Lady Dolphins' 49-38 win over Foley. Debbie Neff and Edith Brodie both had 14 rebounds in the win. Hippert had 10 points, while Suzanne Sharpe had nine in a 77-24 loss to Harrison Central in the final. Hippert, Sharpe and Neff all made the All Tournament team. 1987 - The Lady Dolphin soccer team gave up a goal in the final minute against Woodham, resulting in a 2-2 tie. Sally Grossheim and Stephanie Yancey both had goals. Mike Della Ratta and Robert Bruner both scored twice in the Dolphins' 6-1 win at Panama City Rutherford. Brian Shane and Ryan Davenport both scored once. Victor Wright and Davenport both scored twice as the Dolphins remained unbeaten with a 4-0 win over Milton. Jennifer Wasson had 14 points, 10 rebounds and five assists in a 47-28 win over Jay. Wasson and Kriss Embree both scord 10 points in a 46-42 loss to Niceville. Wasson scored 15 of her 22 points in the fourth quarter as the Lady Dolphins beat Milton 36-34 in the final of the Optimist Classic at Gulf Breeze. Wasson, who also grabbed 15 rebounds, was the Tournament's Most Valuable Player. Clay Cibula scored 15 points as the Dolphins beat Pace 41-37 in the consolation game of the Optimist Classic. 1992 - David Satterwhite scored 19 points and Thomas Bowman 10 in a 68-43 win over Jay in the opening round of the Santa Rosa Shootout. Satterwhite added 24 points 12 rebounds and three blocks, while Shannon Jeffries had 16 in the Dolphins' 63-52 win over Pace in the semifinals. Satterwhite then scored 24 points, 10 rebounds and three blocks in the Dolphins'54-53 loss to Milton in the championship game. Jeffries added 15 points. Shannon Fisher scored nine points in a 68-24 GBHS loss to Woodham. Benji Luke had a hat trick, two of the goals coming off assists from Seth English, as the Dolphins rolled to a 6-1 win over Pace. Kevin Flynn, Corey Kaplan and Chris Womack all scored once. Luke, Kaplan and Jacob Baker all scored in a 3-3 tie with Woodham. Heather Hutchins had a hat trick, including the game-winner with 10 minutes left, to lift GBHS to a 5-4 win over PHS. Sarah Moorehouse scored the other two goals. Moorehouse scored a career-high four goals in the Lady Dolphins' 6-2 win over Choctaw. Aubrey Johnson and Hutchins both scored once, while Maureen McAuliffe had three assists. 1997 - Adam Smith had 17 points, while Gary Wargo added 15 and Brian Corcoran 13 in the Dolphins 74-54 win over Robertsdale in the Crusader Classic. Bree Bolster scored 12 points in the Lady Dolphins' 55-33 loss to Jay. 2002 - The Dolphin soccer team won its eighth straight game by beating Pace 4-1. Tyler Story scored the first two goals, while Keith Savage and Nick Merolli both scored once. Ben Keane, Savage and Jordan Machesky all had assists. Shannon Wing had a hat trick, while Annie Adams had five assists as the Lady Dolphins won their seventh straight, 8-0 over Crestview. Brandi Adams and Jessica Van Slyke both had two goals and an assist, while Alisha Smith had an assist. Joey Mozur had 14 points and 19 rebounds in a 64-48 loss to Arnold. Matt Forrest added 11 points. |
