Running on all cylinders - GBHS girls score 23 in three matches, allow zero
Last week, however, that faucet was cranked all the way on as the Lady Dolphins scored 23 goals in a three game stretch. It was, by far, the most goals they've scored in a three game stretch this season as they ran their win streak to four games (all by shutout) - also a season-best. Three players registered their first points of the season during the week - including defenders Brynne Heatley and Brittany Pyle. Lady Dolphins 8, Milton 0 (73 minutes) Natalie Blair had her first multi goal effort of the season, scoring twice, while Pyle recorded her first points of the season as GBHS blanked Milton on Dec. 3.
Majewski set up the team's second goal, from Kristen Barona, three minutes later. Blair scored the first of her two goals in the 27th minute when she put away a pass from Alyssa Smith. Smith scored her fifth of the season in the 40th minute off another pass from Majewski, who leads the team with 12 assists. A hand ball in the box led to Pyle's first goal of the season on a penalty kick. Aubrey Curington went into the game in the 53rd minute and by the 63rd minute, had two assists. Her first came in the 59th minute when she fed a ball to Vickrey, who dribbled up the middle and scored. The second came four minutes later when a call from the right side was volleyed in by Majewski. Blair rounded out the scoring by putting away a Pyle pass in the 73rd minute. Lauren Davis recorded the shutout in goal.
Majewski had her second twogoal, two-assist game in as many games, while Curington recorded her second straight multi point game as GBHS notched its second 7-0 win over Catholic this year. Majewski's first goal came in the fifth minute of play off Brynne Heatley's first point of the season. Four minutes later, Curington put away a pass from Jesse Vickrey. Curington then set up Majewski's second goal of the game in the 11th minute. Moments later, Ashley Schermerhorn entered the game - her first action since last February's state championship game. Schermerhorn had back surgery during the offseason. Barona scored the first of her two goals in the 52nd minute when she fielded a pass from Majewski, who won a Milton goal kick. Three minutes later, Majewski fed Maggie Rodgers for the first of her two goals. Barona, after taking a pass from Smith, launched a shot from about 25 yards into the net for a 7-0 lead in the 63rd minute. Rodgers' goal came in the 78th minute off Vickrey's second assist of the game. Lady Dolphins 8, West Florida 0 (77 minutes) Lindsey Wright scored her first goal of the season to end the Lady Dolphins' game with West Florida on the mercy rule Friday in Gulf Breeze. Defender Amanda Green scored a penalty kick goal, while Rodgers had a goal in each half, as well as an assist, her first of the season. She leads the team with 12 goals. Robles had a goal and two assists. She's second in the latter category with eight. Majewski added a goal, as did Barona. GBHS' other goal came on an own goal by West Florida. Davis had four saves and ran her consecutive scoreless minute streak to 309 with her fourth straight shutout. Lady Dolphin JV 8, Milton 0 Cori Snyder scored her first two goals of the season in a mercy rule win over Milton. Jessica Watson and Camila Sharp both scored twice, while Becca Timmons and Jenna Ceravolo both scored once. Snyder and Timmons came the 12th and 13th GBHS players to score points this season. Ceravolo had an assist, while Breezy Paulus had the shutout in goal. Lady Dolphin JV 8, Catholic 0 (56 minutes) GBHS recorded their seventh mercy rule win in 12 matches this season, getting a hat trick from Morgan Floyd (her team leading 17th, 18th and 19th goals of the season), while Sharp had two goals and an assist. Sharp has 14 goals on the season. Ceravolo scored her 11th of the season and also had an assist. Snyder scored once, as did Megan Eastburn. Mallory Buechler recorded her first point of the season, assisting on the final goal. Lady Dolphin JV 8, West Florida 0 Ceravolo scored a careerhigh four goals as the GBHS JV recorded its eighth 8-0 result of the season Friday. Floyd scored three goals to give her a team (and GBHS school-wide best) 22 this season. Snyder added a goal, while Gina Bertelli had two assists. Camila Sharp, Megan Eastburn and Katie Aldridge had one assist each. Aldridge's assist makes her the 14th player with a point this season. Ceravolo now has 15 goals this season. GBHS (12-0-1) has outscored the opposition 84-4 this season, while Paulus recorded another shutout in goal. |
