Late foul shots lift GBHS to win over Catholic
. Two Zuniga free throws with 1.7 seconds left the difference

Deannette Zuniga scored a career-high 18 points, including two free throws with 1.7 seconds left, as the Lady Dolphins squeaked by Catholic 48-46 Friday in Gulf Breeze.

Jamie Beeler added 12 points and 10 rebounds, while Natalie Alverson added six, Jordan Smith four, Morgan Bass three and Tobie Bass two points and seven rebounds.

Catholic JV 28, GBHS JV 17

Alison Milam had nine points to lead Gulf Breeze, who were outscored 9-1 in the third quarter.

PHS 71, Lady Dolphins 29

Gulf Breeze fell behind 18-7 and never recovered against PHS.

Alverson had nine points, while Zuniga had six, Smith and Beeler five and Anndrea Marsh and Tobie Bass two each.

PHS JV 38, GBHS JV 22

Lauren Alverson and Emily Chastain both had six for Gulf Breeze, who were outscored 15- 6 in the third quarter.

Lady Dolphins 56, Central 36

Alverson scored 18 points on 9-for-17 shooting to lead Gulf Breeze to its first win Nov. 26. She also had six assists, five steals and only one turnover.

Beeler added 11, while Zuniga, Smith and Christine Hay had five each. Morgan Bass had four, while Tobie Bass had three and Marsh and Sallie Papajohn two each. Beeler, Morgan Bass and Papajohn all had five rebounds in the win.

Lindsey Hawthorne scored eight points to lead the ninth graders to a season opening win.
