Lady Dolphins lose at Tate

Tate went on an 8-0 run over the final four minutes of the game to beat Gulf Breeze 51-42 Nov. 19 in Pensacola.

The Lady Dolphins (0-2), who commited only four turnovers in the first three quarters, had six in the final eight minutes to allow Tate to pull away.

Sarah Munsch, who went 5- for-7 from the field, scored the first six for Gulf Breeze, who trailed by only two (17-15) after one quarter. Munsch finished the game with 10 points, five rebounds and three assists.

Morgan Bass recovered a loose ball and fed older sister Tobie for a bucket before the older Bass scored off a Deannette Zuniga pass to give GBHS a 22- 21 lead. Tate would go on a 10-2 run the rest of the half to take a 31-24 halftime lead.

Tate led by as many as 10 in the third quarter, but the Lady Dolphins hung tough, getting another Tobie Bass bucket to make it a one point game (35-34).

Zuniga scored while being fouled driving to the basket, making it 43-42 with 4:19 left. But GBHS wouldn't score the rest of the game.

Tobie Bass had 13 points and seven rebounds, while Natalie Alverson had eight points on 4- of-5 shooting. Jamie Beeler added six points, while Jordan Smith and Zuniga had two each and Morgan Bass had one. Gulf Breeze shot 52 percent (16-for- 31) from inside the 3-point arc.

Lauren Alverson had 11 points and Emily Chastain 10 as Gulf Breeze rallied from 10 down in the first quarter to win their first of the season (1-1).
