Dolphins blank Tigers, then suffer first loss

The Gulf Breeze boys soccer team improved to 6-0 with a 3-0 win over PHS Nov. 17 before losing 3-2 at Niceville two days later.

Dolphins 3, PHS 0

Brad Parrish scored five minutes in to lead the Dolphins to a win.

Stuart Parks set up the Parrish goal before Thomas Farmer scored a minute later off a pass from Hunter Hickman.

Jack Begley scored his first varsity goal in the 51st minute, heading in a Nick Malloy corner kick. Richard Benson played the first 20 and the last 20 minutes of the match in goal, while Tyler Willets played the middle 40 to combine for the shutout.

Dolphin JV 8, PHS 0

Mikey Green had two goals (his fifth and sixth of the season) and an assist to lead the Dolphin JV to its sixth win in as many matches.

Nick Green, Billy McCormick, Max Gerke, Blake Trotter, Doug Overlade and Hayes Sperry all scored once in the win. Chance Winn had two assists, while Overlade, Trotter, Gerke and Josh Suelflow all had one helper each.

Niceville 3, Dolphins 2

A controversial penalty kick with six minutes to go was the difference as the Dolphins lost Nov. 19 at Twin Oaks Park.

GBHS coaches claimed their players was taken down in their own box, but the officials ruled the Eagle player went down first, resulting in a PK.

Parrish's team-leading seventh goal of the season came 25 minutes into the match, tying it at 1. Kyle Losoya sent a long ball up to Parrish, who chipped a ball over the keeper, who came out to challenge.

The Eagles cleaned up an attempted clear of a Niceville free kick in the 32nd minute to take a 2-1 halftime lead.

Ten minutes into the second half, Thomas Farmer put away a ball in the Eagle box after a free kick by Parks was won and shot by Parrish that the keeper initially knocked away.

Niceville JV 4, Dolphins 0

Gulf Breeze, down 2-0, played the final 60 minutes a man down after a red card in the first half.

The Dolphins host Fort Walton Beach tonight, their first match in 10 days. The JV match is at 5:30, followed by the varsity at 7:30.
