South Santa Rosa County needs a court facility

I read the recent article regarding efforts to build a new courthouse in Santa Rosa County. As a lawyer, I am very well aware of the problems that we have with our present courthouse in Milton.

As I see it, there are really two problems. First, we have outgrown the courthouse and there's just an inherent lack of space. Second, the facilities are antiquated.

While I know many who think we should find a new site and start from scratch, I would prefer another court facility in the south end of the county between Gulf Breeze and Navarre. Having two courthouses in one county is not unprecedented, since Okaloosa County has a courthouse in Shalimar as well as in Crestview. Geographically, we are a very large county and the south end is fairly separated from the north end. If a courthouse were built in the south end then the present site in downtown Milton could be renovated. There would no longer be any space problems since a lot of the burden would be taken off with the south end courthouse assuming a significant share of the caseload.

I hope that our commissioners will look at this option before starting from scratch, especially since our current courthouse has historical significance and is centrally located for those who live in the Milton area.

Thanks for the
excellent coverage
I wanted to thank you for the
excellent coverage of the mentoring
day awards reception.
We've had some coverage of
our events but none have gone to
the extent that you did by listing
the names of the students/job
seekers and most important - the
mentors that took the time to
share their experiences at the work place for our future leaders. Not everyone can see the potential of these students but they join people like Cher, Einstein, Ray Charles, President Roosevelt, to name just a few.

I'll be sure to share your column with all of the participants! They will be so proud. I wouldn't be surprised if the number of subscriptions rise as a result of your coverage.

Again, Thank You! You have really made a big difference in the lives of more people than you can imagine.

Community takes
pride in Bokas
It was so exciting to read about
Victor Bokas' art being chosen
for the Orlando International
Airport terminal! I have known
George and Aspasia since 1961
and remember so well Victor as
he grew up with my own children.
I want to join all the other
Gulf Breeze residents in expressing
our joy for him and his family
as well as our pride in his work
having received this recognition.
Congratulations!

Beach garage proposal raises questions

Admire your objective reporting on the beach parking garage issue. I get torqued up reading about it because I do not feel that the motives for the garage are to help the poor citizens of Escambia County enjoy Pensacola Beach. I wonder why the merchants of Portofino Boardwalk do not build their own garage like the owner of the Hilton did with his own funds.

Keep a nice dossier on these weasels.

GB pharmacist
helped in time of
need
My name is Robbie Neely and
I would like to give a big
THANK YOU to the CVS store
in the Winn Dixie Plaza. Over the
weekend I was out of state and
my son fell and broke his arm
and required surgery. We tried to
find a pharmacy that would fill
his prescriptions and take my
payment information over the
phone. He went to one pharmacy
and they refused. I called CVS
and spoke to the Pharmacist
named Ron. He was very nice
and polite. He said he did not see
a problem with it but he had to
check with his manager. After he
spoke with his manager he came
back on the phone and said they
would be glad to help. I gave
them my information over the
phone and they filled my son's
prescriptions. It is caring people
like this that make the world a
better place. So, I would like to
give a BIG CHEER to Ron the
pharmacist and CVS in the Winn
Dixie Plaza in Gulf Breeze.
