FBI closes in on robbery suspect
STAFF REPORTS Gulf Breeze News news@gulfbreezenews.com

Suspect
Federal investigators are getting closer to formally indicting a man they believe may be responsible for bank robberies in Gulf Breeze and Escambia County, police said.

According to members of the Gulf Breeze Police Department, who said the reports had not yet been completely confirmed as of press time, FBI agents have arrested and questioned a suspect they believe robbed the People's First Community Bank on Shoreline Drive July 27. Preliminary reports indicate the suspect was apprehended outside the state of Florida.

According to the original police report, the suspect entered the bank around 1 p.m. and demanded money with a small handgun. Police say the suspect fled the bank on a bicycle. Not long after the first robbery, police believe the same suspect robbed another bank off Nine Mile Road in Escambia County. Police described the robber as a "drifter" who moves around and probably robs tellers for a living.

The suspect had not been charged as of press time and investigators had not released his name as of Tuesday morning, Nov. 27.

More details will be released as they become available.
