The Gulf Breeze Dolphin basketball team got career efforts from both Matt Patrick and Zach Andrews as they rolled to a 70-36 win over the Central Jaguars in the opening night of the Santa Rosa Shootout Thursday in Milton.

Patrick finished with 21 points, going 7-for-10 from the field and 7-for-10 from the line. Andrews had 15 points off the bench, which outscored the entire Jaguar team by one point. Andrews was 6-for-8 from the field, including three 3- pointers.

The Dolphins led 11-9 after one quarter before the Jags took an 18-15 lead. Andrews then gave the Dolphins a spark, scoring eight of the Dolphins' 10 points in a 10-1 run, six of them on three-pointers.

Logan Campbell, who had 28 points for the Jags, scored all but one of his team's first half point, including making all eight of their field goals. A rebound and putback from Campbell made it a 27-21 Cnetral deficit at the half.

Gulf Breeze's lead was six (29-23) early in the second half before the Dolphins went on a 12-0 run to pull away. The run was capped off by a three-point play by Erik Mims and a threepointer from David Hibberts.

The first non-Campbell bucket from the Jags made it a 12 point game before Gulf Breeze scored the final six of the third quarter for a 47-27 lead.

Gulf Breeze scored the final 14 points of the game, with included buckets by Patrick, Andrews, Bo Peardon and Garrett Carr.

Carr had eight points on 3- for-5 shooting with five rebounds. Brian Shreve added five points, while Marcus Smith and Alec Cann had four each, Peardon and Hibberts three each and Jeff White two.

Cann and Hibberts both had five rebounds for the Dolphins, who won the game shorthanded - they'll be without Dustin Clements for 4-6 weeks (broken foot) and Colin Kupris for 6-8 weeks (broken hand).

Because of an early deadline because of the Thanksgiving holiday, the Dolphins' preseason clash with Navarre didn't make it to press. Read about that game, as well as their season opener Monday at Panama City Mosley in the Nov. 29 issue.
