Participants needed for clinical research

Baptist Clinical Research is seeking participants for a diabetic neuropathy treatment study. Men and women who have been diagnosed with diabetic neuropathy ages 18 to 70 with a blood glucose level no greater than 300 should apply. Those responding will be screened further to determine eligibility.

Those eligible will take part in a 20-week study that includes six visits at Baptist Clinical Research study center. Study related medical and lab procedures will be performed at no cost. Call Baptist Clinical Research at 850-469- 2491 to be screened for participation in this study.

Health screenings at St. Ann

Residents living in and around Gulf Breeze can be screened to reduce their risk of having a stroke or a serious bone fracture. Life Line Screening will be at St. Ann Catholic Church on Dec. 5. The site is located at 100 Daniel Drive and appointments will begin at 9 a.m.

Screenings are fast, painless and low cost. They test for blocked carotid arteries, abdominal aortic aneurysms and hardening of arteries in the legs. A bone density screening is also offered to assess the risk of osteoporosis.

All four screenings take less than an hour to complete. The cost for a wellness package of all four screenings, including a free osteoporosis screening, is $149.

Red Cross needs Type 'O'

The American Red Cross is currently in need of volunteer blood donors with all blood types, particularly those with Type O Positive or Type O Negative, due to the continuing critical need. The American Red Cross is urging all eligible donors to give blood as a way of keeping the blood supply to a safe and stable level.

Flu vaccine available at Navy Hospital

Naval Hospital Pensacola's shipment of flu vaccines has arrived and will be available at the Immunization Clinic, on an appointment-only basis to all non-active duty area Department of Defense (DOD)-eligible family members who received their healthcare from the military medical facility.

The Immunization Clinic will offer the flu vaccine weekdays, Monday through Friday, between the hours of 8-11:30 a.m. and 1-4 p.m.
