1972 Dolphins lose close one to Crestview

The 1972 Dolphins closed out the season with a 13-6 loss to Crestview.

Ken Johnson's two-yard pass to Dick Schwartz made it a 7-6 game before the Dolphins turned the ball over inside the Bulldog fiveyard line as the first half expired.

Larry Shore finished third

10:24) in a cross country meet at PJC. The Dolphins finished third wtih a score of 89. Biloxi High won the six team meet (52), while Niceville was second (65).

1977 - The Dolphins won a school-record eighth game of the season, crushing Ernest Ward 62-6. Gulf Breeze finished the season ranked 12th in the final state prep poll.

The GBHS varsity cheerleaders finished third, while the JV team was second, in a cheerleading competition sponsored by GBSA. Approximately 700 cheerleaders took part in the event.

1987 - The Dolphins finished the season at 4-6 after beating Catholic 18-14.

1992 - The Dolphins finished the season at 6-4 after shutting out Walton 34-0. Bobby Clayton (one yard run), Jason Lombardo (41 yards), Drew O'Daniel (three yards), Keith Van Slyke (seven yards) and Chad Triptow (22 yards) all had rushing touchdowns in the win, while Ward Entrekin picked off two passes on defense.

Steve Ennis and Team Fountain, comprised of John Ennis, Mike and Clay Peacher and Max WIlliams, won the Southern Kingfish Association's overall Gulf Division title, winning two of the three tournaments they entered.

1997 - Chris Fussell (17th - 17:05) and Erin McGee (26th - 20:45) led GBHS at the Region 1- 5A cross country meet. The girls team finished seventh, while the boys were 10th. St. Augustine Nease (girls) and Jacksonville Wolfson (boys) won the meet.

The Lady Dolphin basketball team was outscored 22-10 in the fourth quarter of a 46-45 loss to Pine Forest. Julie Deese had 14 points, while Cass Shields and Bree Bolstor had 10 points apiece.

Pine Forest scored the game-winner with a layup with five seconds left.

Deese scored 13 points in GBHS' 66-37 to Central. Melissa Payne had 11 points for the Lady Jaguars.

Brian Mink and Gary Wargo had 12 points each in the Dolphins' 64-42 season-opening loss to Escambia. Wargo scored 17 points in a 75-49 loss to Woodham.

2002 - Cecily Welsh finished 12th (21:15), while Jenny Miller was 13th (21:27) at the Region 1-2A cross country meet in Tallahassee.

Jeff Crane was 14th (17:53) for the boys team, who finished fifth. The girls were fourth.
