Dolphin wrestlers win preseason tourney

Submitted Photo The GBHS wrestling team defeated South Walton and Wewahitchka to win a preseason meet Saturday at South Walton High School.
The Gulf Breeze High wrestling team opened the 2007 season Saturday with a pair of wins at a preseason meet at South Walton High School. The Dolphins beat South Walton 51- 24 and Wewahitchka 42-29.

Tanner Eagley won both of his matches, the only one to do so (Several others went 2-0, which included a forfeit win). Eagley, wrestling in the 145-pound class, won his match against South Walton on a fall 1:10 into the match and his Wewahitchka match 2:56 into the match.

Steven Houser (135 pound class), Brandon Buckhalter (140), Kyle Chavers (160), Eric Reitz (171) and Allen Stanley (215) all went 2-0 with forfeit wins over Wewahitchka.

Houser won over South Walton by fall 3:21 into the match, Buckhalter won by fall 1:10 into the match, Chavers 6:40 into the match, Reitz 3:36 into the match and Stanley 1:32 into the match.

Holden Tibbs (103), Rett Ellis (125), Jesse Parsons (189) and Justin Jackson (heavyweight) all went 1-1 on Saturday.

Tibbs won his South Walton match at the 2:37 mark, but lost his Wewahitchka match 1:50 into the match.

Ellis won his South Walton match on points (10-9), but lost his Wewahitchka match at the 2:53 mark.

Parsons won his South Walton match 58 seconds in, but lost Wewahitchka match on points 19-3.

Jackson won his Wewahitchka match 1:38 into the match, but lost his SouthWalton match at the 24 second mark.

Devon Dunlap (112) lost his South Walton match 2:53 into the match and his Wewahitchka match 1:50 into the match.

GBHS opens the regular season at the Fort Walton Invitational on Saturday.
