GB man arrested on dope charges

A Gulf Breeze man was arrested last week for possession of marijuana, cocaine and crack cocaine with intent to sell. On Nov. 6, at approximately 5 p.m., a narcotics unit with the Santa Rosa Sheriff's Office raided the residence of Derrick Antonia King, 27, after obtaining a search warrant related to narcotics activity in the home.

Sheriff's reports said when deputies entered the home on the 5800 block of Supreme Street in Gulf Breeze, they immediately noticed the smell of burnt cannabis and King attempted to flee out the back door. According to reports, deputies posted at the rear of the residence apprehended King immediately.

The report also says deputies discovered numerous plastic baggies of marijuana totaling 147 grams. In addition to the cannabis, deputies found 33.2 grams of cocaine, a 12.6 gram "cookie" of crack cocaine, a digital scale, $1,500 in cash and "numerous other items used in the distribution and use of narcotics," the report said.

King was arrested for possession of cocaine with intent to distribute, possession of marijuana with intent to distribute and possession of narcotics equipment.

King was booked into Santa Rosa County Jail on a $50,500 bond. Jail officials said King posted bond later that evening.
