Bank robbers on the loose
FROM STAFF REPORTS Gulf Breeze News news@gulfbreezenews.com

Peoples First Suspect
Gulf Breeze Police are still looking for two bank robbers, and they report no new developments.

"The guy who robbed People's First Bank (in July) also hit bank in Escambia County off Nine Mile Road and he did not even bother to disguise himself," explains Lt. Rick Hawthorne with the Gulf Breeze Police Department (GBPD). "In the Gulf Breeze robbery he wore only a cap that partially hid his face." Police described that robber as a "drifter" who moves around and probably robs tellers for a living. His photograph and description were sent in a bulletin to the Registry of Organized Crime Information Center (ROCIC) that monitors criminal activity through out the south.

According to Hawthorne, bank cameras function well, but in the SunTrust robbery two weeks ago, the robber was heavily disguised. "In nearly every robbery, the robber wears a mask," Hawthorne says.

GBPD Deputy Chief Robert Randle said the SunTrust robber was seen changing out of his black clothing on the bus ramp behind the schools and fleeing in a silver or gold Toyota or Honda. Business and police cameras were unable to provide further clues.

SunTrust Suspect
Randle said he suspects the SunTrust robber is an area resident.
