Start the weekend off right with art at the Belmont

The 6th Annual Mobile Renaissance Faire, held at the Mobile Greater Gulf State Fairgrounds, will feature music, art, performers and weapons demonstrations representing the Medieval era.
"Around the corner," a collaborative art show between the Belmont Arts Center and the Arts Council of Northwest Florida, will open at the arts center today from 5 to 7 p.m. and runs through Dec. 8.

The show, which will open at the Belmont Arts and Cultural Center located at 401 N. Reus St. in Pensacola, will feature the work of Sonja Griffin Evans and Sharon D. Cope.

'Gallery Nights' continues tomorrow

Brighten your evening, enlighten your mind and embrace the emotions on Nov. 16 in downtown Pensacola at 2007's fall Starry Starry Night Gallery Night.

On Nov. 16, the Arts Council of Northwest Florida presents the final of three Gallery Nights. Walk the streets and enter the shops and galleries to experience enlightening works of art, music and performance - all for free.

The work of Sonja Griffin Evans, pictured above, will be featured at the Belmont Art Center until Dec. 8.
Leave your car in the Jefferson St. or Baylen St. parking garages and stroll down the streets, or if you prefer to ride rather than walk, Gallery Night's participants and sponsors are providing trolley service. Three trolleys will be making stops directly in front of or very close to each participant, so listen for the ding-ding of the trolley and hop on.

Christmas Creations in Pensacola

The 30th Annual Christmas Creations Arts and Crafts Show and Luncheon, sponsored by the United Methodist Women of the First United Methodist Church is scheduled for Nov. 16 and 17.

The festivities will take place at Wright Place of the First United Methodist Church, located at 80 East Wright St. in Pensacola

Some returning artisans are Sara Mason, potter; Debra Rodney, jeweler; and Marion Hawks, watercolorist. The show begins on November 16 from 1 to 6 p.m. and continues on November 17 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. A highlight each year is the luncheon held on Saturday at 11 a.m. The cost is $8.

Mobile Renaissance Faire starts Saturday

The 6th Annual Mobile Renaissance Faire will be held on Nov. 17 and 18, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day at the Mobile Greater Gulf State Fairgrounds, located at 1035 North Cody Rd., Mobile, Ala.

Acts this year include the Knights of Valour-Full contact Jousting, The Daring Douglasses (fire breathing), Otto the Sword Swallower, Faire Wynds (magic and more), The Windy City Wizard (magic and illusion), The Attack of the Pirates, SCA Combat Demos, Winged Ambassadors Falconry, The Zuri Dance Troupe (Middle Eastern dance), Normans of the Southern Sun (theatrical swordplay demo) Babin Puppetry, Phoenix Swords (theatrical swordplay), Saraab (Middle Eastern dance) Shakespeare's Wagon, Michelle's Magical Poodles, Labyrinthe (gypsy dance and live music), The Gypsy Chicks (Middle Eastern dance), Lucidian (music), Good Neighbors All (Music), Tribal Heart (Middle Eastern dance), Iochin the Minstrel, Asiago the Stilt Walking Marvel, Salle McAfee Kings Guard (rapier demos), Tommy the Jester, PLT Shakespearean Theatre, Odon Sotorias (Medieval bagpiper), Sandra Takara Miller (belly dance), Statue Viva the Living Greek goddess, blacksmith demos and much more.

Geronimo's holds art demo and wine tasting

Geronimo's Outpost, located at 69 Via De Luna Drive on Pensacola Beach, is holding art demonstrations Nov. 18.

Featured artists include Brad Greek, plein air painter, and Carol Renfroe-Loethen, jewelry maker, between 4 p.m. and 7 p.m.

Greek is a plein air painter who will paint an outdoor painting acrylic on canvas. Renfroe- Loethen will hand make beautiful jewelry while participants watch.

Geronimo's is also holding a fine wine tasting.
