Gulf Breeze Juniors clinch playoff berth with double overtime win
White Mites, Mini Mites must survive shootouts to clinch playoff berths

Taylor Busbee scored from a yard out on fourth and goal to give the Gulf Breeze Juniors a 12-9, double overtime win over Ensley Saturday in Pensacola.

The touchdown came after the Chiefs kicked a 33-yard field goal (that could've easily gone 44) to make it a 9-6 game. The Chiefs missed on a 25-yard attempt that would have won the game in the first overtime.

The Dolphins had five trips inside the Ensley five yard line, coming up empty on three of them.

The Chiefs scored the only touchdown after the officials missed an interception by Andrew Jurnovoy that was ruled incomplete. Jurnovoy tied it at six on a one-yard touchdown run on fourth down with 3:20 left in the third quarter.

Mason Barnes had two interceptions in the win, while Kyle McGee and Jurnovoy recovered fumbles. J.R. Schultz forced a fumble in the win.

C.J. Ortiz, Busbee and Josh Weiser all had tackles for losses, while Dane Locklin caught several passes and Jordan Bennett had several long runs.

With the win, the Dolphins faced Navarre in a shootout Tuesday at Pace, with the winner winning the division.

Ensley Blue Midgets 18,

GBSA White 6 Ensley scored two touchdowns in the first five minutes to beat Gulf Breeze White Saturday.

Michael Hawkins scored on a seven-yard run with 3:46 left in the game. Hawkins would recover the onside kick, but an offsides call against the Dolphins forced another kick. The Chiefs would take that kick 60 yards to seal the win.

Mark Duntz and Chris Beck both blocked extra points in the loss, while Sean Alley and Brandon Aydelott recovered fumbles.

David Alverson caught a few passes from Kale Jarvis for Gulf Breeze, who were eliminated from postseason play.

Ensley Blue Mites 36,

Gulf Breeze White 0

Despite a blowout loss to Ensley, Gulf Breeze (4-4) was one of four teams trying to grab one of the final three playoff spots. The shootout was Tuesday at Pace.

The Blue Mites lost to Ensley gold to finish the season 1-7.

Ensley Blue Mini Mites 19,

Gulf Breeze White 6 The Dolphins turned the ball over twice inside the Chiefs' 30, allowing Ensley to beat the Dolphins.

Ensley led 19-0 before Steele Chambers scored on a 55-yard touchdown run with 3:01 left in the second quarter. John Carroll intercepted two passes, while Jake Weldon and Tyler Dittmer recovered fumbles. Nate Herrick recovered an onside kick.

Gulf Breeze Blue 0

A pair of second half touchdowns eliminated Gulf Breeze (3-5) from playoff contention.

George Scifo caught several passes from Nolan Remig, while Bailey Wilson recovered a fumble.

Ensley Gold Midgets 30,

Gulf Breeze Blue 0

Despite getting shut out by the unbeaten Chiefs, Gulf Breeze will be in the playoffs with a 5-3 record. They will play Albritton and Gant Saturday.

Randy Halpin, Cooper Jones, Preston Sellers and Taylor Baynes all caught passes for Gulf Breeze, who committed three turnovers that led to 22 Chiefs points.

Ensley Mighty Mites 20,

Nathan Golman (44 yards) and Coleman Burtt (three) scored touchdowns for the Dolphins, who despite losing to Ensley, will be in the playoffs Nov. 10 against the Pensacola Tigers. Coleman and Chandler Burtt both had extra point runs.
