Making a difference
Bottesini is passionate about family and work

Worthwhile work and the difference she makes in peoples lives has always been the driving force behind Angela Bottesini's life journey. Bottesini is currently the Director of Operations for the Covenant Hospice In-patient and Palliative Care Centers, but it was an unknown epidemic back in the early 80's called AIDS that led her to seek a career in healthcare.

"I saw so many young people die from this disease, and I knew I had to make difference," said Bottesini.

Bottesini got involved by volunteering with the Ryan White AIDS Foundation, and went to school to become a Certified Nursing Assistant to immediately be able to care for a very young dying population. She worked in a local clinic while becoming an LPN and then completing her RN degree. Bottesini worked at Baptist Hospital as an Oncology nurse, then a discharge planner, and in marketing. She joined Covenant Hospice eight years ago as a community educator, sharing the mission and promise of hospice care.

If you ask Bottesini to define her passion she will tell you, "My beauti

ful son Trip and the privilege of being at the bedside of a dying patient." This single mother's secret to balancing work and home life is simple. "Find your passion at work, but always take care of yourself and family first," said Bottesini. As if she is not busy enough with supervising two in-patient facilities and attending her son's football games, Bottesini is heading back to the University of West Florida in the Spring.

Bottesini has recently been involved as a speaker with the Studer/Covenant Alliance, which provides organizational coaching, project development for hospice and palliative care units, and educational institutes to help other hospice organizations around the country. When asked about her time on the national stage she will simply tell you, "It's a completely humbling experience, but also such a great opportunity to help other organizations strive for excellence in end-of-life care."
