GBHS grad, St. Andrews to Dig for a Cure Saturday

Jaime Hayes, a 2006 GBHS grad and her teammates on the St. Andrew's Presbyterian College's volleyball team will be Digging for a Cure during their match Saturday vs. Conference Carolinas opponent Lees McRae.

The team will collect from any interested persons a money amount for every dig the team makes in the match. "Being a women's team, we are all aware of the severity of breast cancer and know that it could happen to any of us and we greatly honor and respect those who have fought this disease," Hayes said.

GB Tip Off Club 3-on- 3 Tourney Oct. 13

The Gulf Breeze Tip Off Club will hold its first annual 3 on 3 Tournament Saturday, October 13 from 9 am to 6 p.m. at Gulf Breeze High School.

There will be a playing category for everyone from the Family Division to the Pro Open and everything in between.

The Optimist Club of Gulf Breeze eighth Annual Golf Tournament is Friday October 19 at Osceola Golf Course in Pensacola.

GB Junior Pro tryouts start Oct. 22

Tryouts for boys and girls' Junior Pro basketball in Gulf Breeze are Oct. 22-25 at the Rec Center.

Tryouts for the girls' U12 and U14 teams are Oct. 22 and 24 from 7-9 p.m., while the boys' U12 and U14 tryouts are from 7-9 p.m.

GBSA basketball registration until Oct. 31

Registration for the 2008 GBSA basketball season runs through Oct. 31. A $10 late registration fee will be assessed after Oct. 31.

U13 baseball team seeking sponsors

The Gulf Breeze Slammers, a U13 travel baseball team, is seeking sponsors for the 2008 season.

Sponsors for the Slammers, coached by George Scarborough, Jon Burkett and Tim Wise, can help defray costs for uniforms, equipment, team insurance and tournament entry fees.

Youth wrestling camp starts Nov. 5 at GBMS

A youth wrestling camp - Fun and Fundamentals with Olympic Coach Rob Hermann - will begin Nov. 5 at Gulf Breeze Middle School.

The camp, which costs $40 per month, will be on Mondays from 6:30-8 p.m. Discounts are available for more than one participants. Friendly meets will be set up for cooperating youth programs in the area and nearby towns. A Christmas Clinic will also be set up at a date to be determined.
