Beach Optimists install officers at awards banquet

The 2007-2008 Board of Directors and Officers of the Pensacola Beach Optimist Club (PBOC) were installed Friday September 21 at the Angus Restaurant on Scenic Highway in Pensacola. The theme was a Hawaiian and live musical ukulele entertainment was provided by Dr. Michael Plunkett while members and their guests enjoyed a delicious dinner in celebration of the upcoming optimistic year.

Those sworn into office for PBOC positions were : Board of Directors: Joe Woodall, Bev Dufrechou, Chuck Randle, Louise Greenley, Marilyn Sundstrom, Rick Sundstrom, Sandi Johnson & Officers: President, Mary Claus; Vice President: Karen Jurkowich; Vice President: Scott Neal; Treasurer: Dave Sundstrom; Secretary: Bettie Lee Sundstrom.

It was a very special night as well for honoring those who served the club and its cause of Friends of Youth & Community in an exceptional manner in 2006-2007. The PBOC Optimist of the Year Award was presented to Bettie Lee Sundstrom, for all her terrific involvement, leadership, follow up and dedication to all things optimistic.

The Rookie of the Year Award was presented to recently new member Scott Neal.

Louise Greeney, past president and founding member of the organization received the new Award for Innovation and Initiative.

Awards were also given to members for perfect attendance, and for assuming various positions of leadership. Chuck Randle won for over 11 years of perfect attendance!
