Deathtrap at PLT on Oct. 5 Ira Levin's long-running suspense-comedy "Deathtrap" is coming to Pensacola Little Theatre beginning on Oct. 5. "Deathtrap" opens on October 5 for seven performances. Friday and Saturday evening performances begin at 8:00pm, with Sunday matinees beginning at 2:30pm. Tickets prices are $22, $18, $15, with a $2 discount for active duty military, senior citizens and full-time students with ID. Group discounts are also available for parties of ten or more. One Thursday performance is offered Oct. 11, beginning at 7 p.m. Theatre Thursday special pricing gives you all the entertainment for half the price, $7.50 to $9 per person. Beaches to Woodlands kicks off Oct. 6 The fourth annual Beaches to Woodlands Tour will officially kickoff the Oct. 6 weekend, but those planning to participate are encouraged to visit www.BeachesToWoodlands20 07.com to download the guided brochure or pick up a free copy while supplies last at visitor information centers and chambers of commerce located in Santa Rosa County. Commissioner Gordon Goodin, founder of the Beaches to Woodlands Tour, will officially kick off the fourth annual month-long celebration at 10 a.m. Oct. 6 at Coastal Encounters, a familyoriented coastal awareness festival, which will be held at Navarre Park, located at 8543 Navarre Parkway. The first weekend's events include a gallery night, kiln walk, country line dancing, nature hikes, motorcycle run, historic presentations, volleyball tournament and more. PSO opens concert season The Pensacola Symphony Orchestra (PSO) will perform timeless classics by Mozart, Schumann and Sibelius in the opening concert of the 2007/08 Whitney Bank Masterworks Series on Saturday, Oct. 6 at 8 p.m. The concert will be held at First Baptist Church, located in downtown Pensacola, which has graciously opened their sanctuary to the Pensacola Symphony this season. Prior to the concert, join Dr. Larry Reed in Classical Conversations, a pre-concert discussion held in the sanctuary one hour before the performance. Single tickets for the concert start at $15 in advance and $25 at the door. Prices start at $35. Humane Society's Barktoberfest is Oct. 6 Join the Humane Society of Pensacola at Seville Square in downtown Pensacola for Barktoberfest Oct. 6. The event is the main fundraiser for the local Humane Society, a non-profit, no kill animal shelter. The event offers the community a chance to come out with their beloved pets and family to enjoy a fun day in the park. This year the humane society will have pet contests, portraits, vendors, and demonstrations. This year's event will also feature pet channeling by Sara Christopher and a presentation by the Warrington Middle School cheerleaders. Bands on the Beach continues Darren J. Trio and The Fort Morgan Slammers will share the stage at Pensacola Beach's weekly concert series from 7- 9 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 9 at the Gulfside Pavilion. Darren J. Trio will hit the stage at 7 p.m. with their "Panhandle Blues." Led by 30- year old Darren J. Fallas from Miami Beach, Fla., the band features a special mix of rock, blues and soul, delivered with intimate lyrics, heartfelt vocals and Fallas' Texas-style guitar picking and bluesadelic bending. Fallas will be joined by Doug "Deacon" Burger on bass and Rick Oak on drums. The Fort Morgan Slammers follow at 8 p.m. for a tribute to classic and southern rock with a robust mix of covers by Lynard Skynyrd, ZZ Top, the Allman Brothers, Marshall Tucker and Santana. The band will bring a whole lot of fun and personality to the stage with Ronnie Owens on lead guitar and lead vocals, Mike Thompson on rhythm guitar and backup vocals, Tony Montgomery on bass, and Jim Rector on drums. Bands on the Beach concerts continue Tuesday, Oct. 16 with Tim Jackson's Mr. Big featuring world-class artists playing a fun mix from New Orleans Jazz to American pop, beach music and country. Spectators are encouraged to bring lawn chairs or blankets to the pavilion area. No pets are allowed and glass is prohibited. Concerts are provided and organized by the Santa Rosa Island Authority. |
