GB Optimists deemed 'Distinguished'

Tom Naile, new North Florida District Governor and outgoing treasurer of the Gulf Breeze Optimist Club, received a standing ovation from more than 90 optimists attending the Installation and Awards Banquet, Sept. 18 at St. Ann's Parish Hall. Enthusiasm prevailed as Marguerite Burr, Gulf Breeze Optimist President for 2006-007, thanked this year's board of directors for their support and efforts on behalf of the youth of the community and the committee chairs for their dedication that resulted in Distinguished Club Status for the third consecutive year. Members were also recognized for their efforts in forming two new optimist clubs, the sponsorship of Junior Optimist Clubs at the local schools and members' efforts that contributed to three successful fundraisers. Those fundraiser include the golf tournament, Christmas tree sale and fishing rodeo.

Chuck Krieger, North Florida District Governor for 2006-007, installed the Club's new officers and board of directors: President Ray Shane, Vice president Jim Cibula; Secretary Alex Goldberger, Treasurer Bill Stanford and President-Elect Dick Snyder. Returning board members are: John Morrissey, Leo Ginn and Chuck Porter. New board members include: Charles Gray, Al Campbell, Mary Ann and Jim Napoleone and Marguerite Burr. Governor Krieger's commendations renewed commitment to serve the area's youth.
