MILDRED BOWEN BUSBEE 1918 - 2007

Mildred Bowen Busbee, 89, died Saturday, September 8, 2007 after a lengthy illness.

She was born in Pensacola on June 11, 1918 to Thomas and Theodosia Bowen. Mildred spent twenty years as a military wife, raising her children in Navy towns including, in addition to Pensacola, Norfolk, Memphis, Oakland, Hawaii and Corpus Christi, before returning permanently to Pensacola in 1959.

Mildred was preceded in death by her husband of 29 years, Andrew Busbee.

She is survived by her three sisters, Elizabeth Riordan, Doris Richoz, and Gloria Boysen, all of Pensacola; three sons, James Lee and his wife, Page, of Pensacola, Dale Hostick and his wife, Wanda, of Atlanta, Thomas Willson and his wife, Shirley, of Morehead City, NC; her daughter, Elizabeth Willson of Pensacola; her stepson Ronald Busbee and his wife Phyllis; and by 15 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and 4 great-greatgrandchildren.

Visitation was September 15, at the funeral home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, September 29, 2007 in St. Michael's Catholic Church by the Rev. Peter A. McLaughlin.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to Covenant Hospice.

WILLIAM TRAVIS FRYMAN 1942 - 2007

Bill was born on a tobacco farm in Robertson County Kentucky. He attended a one room schoolhouse not far from his home through the fourth grade. His parents, Frank and Lucille Fryman, and his two brothers Frank Jr. and Steve moved to Wilmore, Kentucky when he was in the fifth grade. Known as "Billy" to his friends, he quickly became known for his athletic skills in multiple sports. While attending Jessamine County High School he was often cited in the local newspaper for his "aggressive defensive play" and high scoring in basketball. Following high school graduation in 1961 he enrolled at Asbury College, majoring in Physical Education and continuing with his athletic endeavors. He served as President of the PE Club and was named "Mr. Asbury" in his senior year.

His teaching and coaching career spanned over twenty six years. He implemented the first elementary physical education program at West Pensacola Elementary. He spent the majority of his career working at various high schools including Woodham, Gulf Breeze, Pensacola Academy, Catholic, Pine Forest and Tate. He led numerous basketball teams to post season tournaments. He was named as the first independent Athletic Director at Tate High School. The new gymnasium at Tate was named the "William T. Fryman Sports Complex" in 1996. Bill was honored by his induction into the Pensacola Sports Association Hall of Fame in 1999. He retired from the Escambia County School District in May of 2003.

Bill was a dedicated father who thrived on watching his sons play baseball and, more recently, his grandsons following in the footsteps of their fathers. He was an avid golfer. He loved spending time with his precious wife Mary Helen at their mountain retreat in North Carolina. It was there that he spent his last days doing what he loved. Bill's Christian faith was ever present. He will be remembered as an outstanding educator, mentor, coach and role model to thousands of students. He stressed character development to his players. His engaging personality, sense of humor, story telling and genuine concern for others will not be forgotten.

His memory will be cherished by his loving wife Mary Helen; sons and daughters-inlaw Travis and Kathleen, Troy and Danielle, and Jarod and Erin; two brothers and their wives, Frank and Leslie Fryman and Steve and Jodi Fryman. He was the proud grandfather of six grandsons: Mason (11), Branden (9), Cole (6), Jadon (4), Jace (2), and Mclain William (1). He will be greatly missed by countless relatives, friends, golfing buddies, basketball officials, colleagues and students.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers memorial contributions be made to the Frank B. and Lucille Fryman Scholarship at Asbury College, One Macklem Drive, Wilmore, Kentucky 40390.

Visitation was at Faith Chapel North on Tuesday, September 4, 2007 from 5-8 pm.

Funeral services were held at First United Methodist Church on Wright Street on Wednesday September 5, 2007 at 2:30 pm with Dr. Wesley Wachob officiating.

Interment followed at Bayview Memorial Park.

RICHARD J. STRICULA 1945-2007

Richard "Vinny" Stricula passed away Tuesday, September 18, 2007. He had a humorous loving spirit enjoying friends, family, students, laughter, cooking, playing darts, the beach, a stiff drink and the Blues Brothers. He was owner/operator of Computers of Gulf Breeze since 1994, originally from Chicago. He served in the Army from 1963-1966. He was a member of the Krewe of Brewe and Elks Lodge. He is survived by his wife, Sherry; sons, Rich, Justin; step-son, Cameron Zack; sisters, Gloria and Theresa; numerous, nieces, nephew, cousins and a multitude of friends. Services were on September 23, at the Elks Lodge Pensacola Beach. TRAHAN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME was in charge of arrangements.
