He was designated a Presidential Scholar in the Arts and received the Presidential Gold Medal at the Kennedy Center. In 2005, Carpenter garnered the Verbier Artist's Award at the Verbier Festival and Academy in Switzerland. The event, sponsored in part by New York Nick's and the Handlebar, will begin at 5 p.m. at the Belmont, 401 North Reus St., located inside the window factory in downtown Pensacola. This increasingly popular event will feature glass blowing demonstrations, complimentary beverages and snacks, artwork in the gallery, hand blown cups, and more.

Gurney's "The Dining Room" at the Clurman Theatre in New York. The play is currently in previews with opened Sept. 20. and perfor- mances run through Oct. 20.
Sesame Street comes to Mobile Join Elmo, Zoe, Rosita, Telly Monster and Zoe's pet rock Rocco for Sesame Street Live "Ready for Action" at The Mitchell Center in Mobile from Friday, Sept. 28 through Sunday, Sept. 30. This all-new Sesame Street Live show features an array of popular songs, many of them renditions of tunes that parents will remember and kids will love: "Old MacDonald," "Splish Splash," "Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star" and "Sunny Days." Like television's Sesame Street, each Sesame Street Live production features timeless lessons for all ages. Through the razzledazzle of this Broadwayquality show, the production will teach children some great healthy habits that they can use long after the show ends. Adults will appreciate the universal appeal of Sesame Street Live, the hightech stagecraft and cleverly written scripts. The Mitchell Center is located on the University of South Alabama campus at 5918 Old Shell Road in Mobile, Ala. Tickets are $12 and $14. A limited number of $17 premium seats and $24 Gold Circle seats are also available. On opening night, all seats, excluding Gold Circle, are $12.
