TP football goes 2-1 at home
GB Mighty Mites stay unbeaten, 26-13

The Tiger Point football program christened its new football field with two wins over Northwest Escambia Saturday.

Mini Mites 13,

Northwest Escambia 6

Tristan Diamond's one-yard run on fourth and goal with two minutes left in the game was the difference as the Tigers improved to 2-0 on the season.

The Tiger fell behind 6-0 after the Eagles (2-1) scored on their first possession. Nicky Myers, who was in on at least 13 tackles, stopped the extra point, along with Nico Ynostrosa, to keep it 6-0 with 4:49 left in the opening quarter.

Both teams turned the ball over on downs before the Tigers tied the game late in the second quarter.

Myers caught a 44-yard touchdown pass from Diamond, but the extra point failed, leaving the score at 6 with 1:20 left in the first half.

The Eagles had a 24-yard touchdown run called back on a penalty late in the first half. NWE recovered a Tiger fumble early in the second half, but turned it back over on downs after an Eagle penalty nullfied a first down.

Both teams turned the ball over on downs before the Tigers went on their game-winning drive.

Ynostrosa's 23-yard run put the Tigers deep in Eagle territory. Dustin Rogers, who had at least eight tackles, had an 11-yard run to the one, setting up Diamond's game-winner.

Myers caught the extra point try from Diamond for the final margin of victory. Myers then made a tackle on fourth down to seal the win.

Rogers, Trevor Robinson and Andrew Dorsey all made tackles for losses in the win. Ynostrosa led the offense with about 45 yards rushing.

Tiger Point Midgets 28,

Northwest Escambia 0

Chandler Foxworth ran for 107 yards and three touchdowns, while the defense held the Eagles to minus-nine yards of offense in the first half to blank Northwest Escambia.

After an Northwest Escambia penalty nullified a 33-yard run, Chad Wise and Matt Kolokouris made a tackle on fourth down to get the ball back. Four plays later, Seth Rejda scored on a four- yard run.

Foxworth's kick with 3:48 left in the first quarter made it 8-0.

Wise recorded sack on fourth down to end NWE's next drive. Eight plays later, Foxworth scored on a 10-yard run.

Foxworth's kick with 5:25 left in the second quarter made it 16-0.

Alex Whidby made a fourth down tackle for the Tigers, who fumbled the ball back to the Eagles on the next play.

Mason Baker recorded a sack to end the first half.

The Tigers made it 22-0 when Foxworth scored from 12 yards line with 3:08 left in the third quarter.

The key play of the drive was a 24-yard run by Xan Sarra.

Josh Hyland intercepted an NWE pass, which led to the Tigers' final score, a 14-yard run by Foxworth with 2:42 left in the game. Mitchell Robbins had three consecutive runs for 19 yards to keep the drive going.

Whidby also recovered a fumble in the game, while Tucker Batte had a sack. Northwest Escambia Mites

35, Tiger Point 0

The Eagles scored on five of its first six possessions to shut out the Tigers.

NWE opened the game with a 68-yard kickoff return for a touchdown. Two plays after stopping the Tigers three yards short of a first down on fourth and two, a 42-yard touchdown run made it 14-0.

After an interception to start Tiger Point's next offensive series, the Tiger defense would make a stand as Travis Parkins made a fourth down stop.

Tiger Point couldn't take advantage though, turning it over on downs four plays later. On the very next play, a 43-yard touchdown run made it 21-0 withy 5:34 left in the first half.

After recovering an onside kick, NWE went 54 yards in five plays to make it 29-0.

Zack Pearcy recorded a sack on third and one before the Eagles scored on a 50-yard run on the next play.

Two plays after recovering a Tiger fumble, the Eagles rounded out the scoring with a 28-yard touchdown run. Antonio Thomas, who had multiple tackles in the second half, made a tackle on the extra point try.

The Tigers got a couple of short runs by Gant Player and a pair of long passes from Gray Dorsey to Tom Bixler put the Tigers inside the Eagle 20 yard line, but they would eventually turn it over on downs.

GBSA Juniors 23,

Cantonment 0

Jordan Bennett threw for two touchdowns and picked off a Cowboys pass - one of three turnovers forced by the Dolphins in the second half - to improve to 2-1 on the season.

Taylor Busbee returned the opening kickoff 70 yards for a touchdown. Busbee's kick made it 8-0. Bennett's 51-yard touchdown pass to Dane Locklin, followed by Busbee's run, made it 15-0.

Bennett intercepted a pass in the second half shortly after Mitchell deKozan knocked a potential touchdown pass away from a Cowboy receiver.

Andrew Jurnovoy had several long runs before Bennett found Locklin for a 20-yard pass.

The Dolphins would round out the scoring on a 16-yard touchdown pass from Bennett to Blake Meredeth. Busbee followed with the two-point kick.

The defense would do the rest, forcing two fourth quarter turnovers inside their own 25- yard line.

Patrick Roane recovered a Cantonment fumble that was forced by teammate Mason Barnes. Later on, Paul Spraggins came up with an interception after Josh Weiser knocked the ball loose from the Cantonment quarterback.

Cant. Maroon Midgets 29,

Gulf Breeze Blue 8

T.J. Baughn's 30-yard touchdown pass from Landon Cagle was the lone score for Gulf Breeze, who fell to 2-1 after losing to the Cowboys. Taylor Baynes had the two-point kick.

Preston Sellers ran for about 100 yards in the loss for Gulf Breeze, while Michael Neal had three sacks on defense.

Cant. White Midgets 20,

Gulf Breeze 14

Michael Hawkins scored two touchdowns as the White Midgets lost its first game of the season.

Austin Fillinger and Connor Crooke both caught passes from Kale Jarvis, while Fillinger also forced and recovered a fumble.

Brian Garbell made a touchdown-saving tackle in the loss.

Cant. White Mites 28,

Gulf Breeze White 15

Parker Baynes and Matthew DeMahy had touchdown runs in a loss to the Cowboys Saturday in Gulf Breeze.

Bradley Proctor recovered a fumble and Corey Nolan kicked a two-point extra point.

Reed Gilliland had two runs, including one for 15 yards. Jace Amberson, Chandler Hines, Riley Nolan, Julian Gordon, Adam Colston, Daniel Harris, Jordan Wilder-Edwards and Alex Kelley led the defense.

GBSA Blue Mini Mites 27,

Cantonment Maroon 0

Gulf Breeze's Blue Mini Mites improved to 2-1 on the season behind a 166-yard, three touchdown performance from George Scifo.

Brian Joyner added 29 yards rushing and a touchdown, while Josh Hartley scored an extra point and also made an interception on defense.

Nolan Remig completed a pass for the third straight game and recovered a fumble. Nick McCain recorded a safety, while Eric Czeck had a team-high six tackles.

Cantonment White 13,

Gulf Breeze White 0

Information on this game was unavailable at press time.

GB Mighty Mites 26,

Cantonment 13

Coleman Burtt scored on runs of 53, 41 and 65 yards, while Nate Golman added a 65- yard touchdown run as the Mighty Mites remained Gulf Breeze's only unbeaten team (3- 0) with a win over Cantonment.

Coleman Burtt also had an extra point run and three solo tackles. Golman had an extra point run and two solo tackles, while Chandler Burtt had seven solo tackles.

Week 2 recaps GB White Mini Mites 33,

East Milton 0

Tyler Dittmer scored the first and last touchdowns of the game for the White Mini Mites, who improved to 1-1 on the season.

Dittmer scored on two runs of about 50 yards. Nathan Herrick scored on a 30-yard run, J.C. Carroll on a 39-yard run and Steele Chambers on a four-yard run.

Carroll threw an extra point pass to Nick Whibbs, who caught three passes in the win. Chambers also had an extra point run.

The Dolphin offense was able to move at will, thanks to the line play of Jake Molina, Matthew Hawkins, Brian Childers, Ben Zimmer, Brandon Klisart, Andrew Houser and Jacob Brandon. Weldon had two long runs and a third one, a 60-yard touchdown, called back on a penalty.

Childers led the Dolphin defense with eight tackles. Weldon and Whibbs were also standouts on defense, who held East Milton to minus-five yards of total offense.

Mighty Mites 14,

Albritton and Gant 13 (OT)

Coleman Burtt scored both touchdowns and had seven tackles, while Chandler Burtt added an extra point in an over win over A&G.

Week 1 recaps GB Mighty Mites 14, Pace 6

Gulf Breeze won its season opener behind touchdowns by both Burtt brothers. Coleman Burtt added an extra point.

Pace Mini Mites 7,

Gulf Breeze Blue 0

The Blue Mites stopped Pace on the one-foot line early in the game, but Pace would score later and make it stand up against the Dolphins.

Tristan Covell (five tackles) led the defense, while Nolan Remig and Bailey Wilson had four each. Eric Czeck, George Scifo and Brian Joyner had three each. Remig and Josh Hartley both recovered fumbles, while Hartley led the offense with 28 yards rushing. Remig added 26 yards.

Czeck also caught a five-yard pass from Remig.

Pace Mini Mites 7,

Gulf Breeze White 6

The Dolphins recovered a fumble in the final two minutes, but couldn't mount a gamewinning drive as they lost to Pace in their opener Sept. 1 in Gulf Breeze.

Dittmer's 55-yard punt return for a touchdown was the lone Gulf Breeze score. Weldon had some good runs in the second half, while Carroll completed three passes to Whibbs.

Colton Hines and Antonio Mauro led the Dolphins up front, while Chambers and Childers (five tackles each) led the defense. Andrew Houser, Ian Vaught and Gabe Millican also had good games.
