School Briefs Gulf Breeze Middle School will be hosting its 12th Annual Wellness Fair in the school cafeteria Oct. 22 from 9-11 a.m. For the past 11 years, the staffs of the schools in the Gulf Breeze and Navarre area have participated in these wellness fairs. A large number of presenters representing a gamut of health agencies and professionals and a mix of fitness promoters have provided a half day of services for the benefit of school personnel and people in the community. The participants have the opportunity to have many screenings done at this time as well as to donate blood. With each screening the participant is given a ticket to be placed in a basket for an hourly drawing. To encourage screenings we offer many door prizes. If you would like to present or to contribute a door prize, handouts, refreshments, etc., please contact Kathy Crane, wellness coordinator, at Gulf Breeze Middle School 934-4080 or email cranek@mail.santarosa. k12.fl.us Naval Candidate Symposium Oct. 6 The local USNA chapter is sponsoring a: "Candidate Symposium" for students, parents, counselors and school administrators to find out what it takes to be admitted to the US Naval Academy and NROTC. Rotary Reverse Raffle raising funds for scholarships Rotary is hosting its third annual Reverse Raffle to raise funds for the four $5,000 scholarships it awards each year. A limited number of $50 tickets are sold, and are entered into the 'pot' to be drawn out....one by one....until three tickets remain. Third prize is $500, second $1,000 and first prize $4,000. Last year there was a prize given away for every eight tickets drawn. All the proceeds from the event fund the Gulf Breeze Rotary Scholarship Fund and other organizations that Gulf Breeze Rotary supports such as Camp Happy Sands, the Autism Camp and others. Last year, 240 tickets were sold, so odds are pretty good....better than the Lottery by a long shot. Each ticket admits two to the event as well which is lots of fun! The event is October 23, at New World Landing from 5:30-8 p.m. Hors de oeuvres and a cash bar will be available. MC's for the evening will be none other than Mr. Sunshine himself, Jim Reeves, and Jerry Blacklaw.
