Committee for Sustainable Emerald Coast meets today at Hilton The Committee for a Sustainable Emerald Coast (CSEC) will meet today from 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the Hilton Pensacola Beach, 12 Via De Luna Drive, Pensacola Beach. During the Committee Meeting (8:30 - 3:50 p.m.), findings from previous meetings and subcommittee progress reports will be discussed. The Committee will also allow for public comment. A Public Workshop will convene at 4 - 6 p.m. and is open to all members of the public for the purpose of educating them on the findings of the Committee and to ask for input. The agenda is available online at http://www.sustainableemeraldcoast.com/ In August of 2006, Governor Jeb Bush appointed Emerald Coast leaders from education, government, conservation, and business to serve as members of the Committee for a Sustainable Emerald Coast. Governor Bush convened this Committee to bring together public and private interests, concerns and communities in the four-county region consisting of Escambia, Santa Rosa, Okaloosa and Walton Counties. The Mission of the Committee for a Sustainable Emerald Coast is to study long range planning issues of regional importance, seek public input, and provide recommendations to enable sustainable growth and development in the region. Through its efforts, the Committee will seek to preserve the region's heritage and enhance the Emerald Coast's natural resources, economic prosperity and quality of life. The Committee is considering issues of long range planning that will help the region prepare for the next generation. The primary issues of concern fall into the categories of: Sustainable Growth and Development; Economic Diversity and Prosperity; Environmental Stewardship; and Access to Education, Health Care and Culture. The Committee will evaluate and make action recommendations concerning these issues of critical importance. A final report is due by December 31. |
