Sports Briefs The GBHS Baseball Boosters will hold a meeting September 18 at 6 p.m. in the GBHS Media Center. The meeting is open to anyone interested in supporting GBHS baseball from current members to future members or anyone interested in finding out what the organization is about. The Building Committee has moved forward with plans to build a new multi use dressing facility and handicap restrooms and hope to secure support for this project. Head Coach Randy Renfroe will be in attendance to pass out off-season material for athletes not playing a fall or winter sport. Coaches Jak-y Kohr and Jason Lavaway will be working athletes during seventh period class. Plans underway for Dolphin Alumni Game The Gulf Breeze High Baseball program is interested in fielding an alumni game in the future. For more information, please contact J.L. Pensacola Fisherman's Family Fishing Rodeo Sept. 14-16 The Pensacola Recreational Fisherman Association's eighth annual Family Fishing Rodeo will be held on September 14-16 An Anglers meeting will be Sept. 14 from 6-8:30 p.m. at the R.F.R.A. (Reef Fish Restoration Assoc.) building at 1007 Pine Street (by Capt. Joey Patti's Seafood Restaurant), with the weigh-in at the Pensacola Marine Complex (formerly Pensacola Shipyard). Weigh-In times will be from 3-6 p.m. Saturday and from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Sunday. Entry Tickets: Open Division $25 Junior Division (12 and Under) is free. For more info, call 916-4104. Gulf Breeze Men's Baseball League being formed All men age 30 and over interested in playing recreational baseball, now is our time! The only time a field is available is Sunday evening at 7 p.m. The number of teams, length of season etc. will depend on how many people sign up. Proceeds support the football and cheerleading programs at Gulf Breeze High. Volunteers needed for 'chain gang' The GBHS Quarterback Club is looking for three adults to run the chain gang during all the JV and ninth grade football games this season. GBHS football 'coin flippers' needed The GBHS Quarterback Club are looking for sponsors for the pregame coin flip before each of the five varsity games during the season. For $100, sponsors get an announcement of their business in front of thousands of high school football fans. Dates available are Sept. 7, Sept. 14, Oct. 5, Oct. 19 and Nov. 9. Sarah Brown Memorial Golf Tournament Sept. 15 in Elberta A golf tournament to fund the Sarah Brown Memorial Scholarship Fund is scheduled for Sept. 15 at the Woerner Preserve at Soldier's Creek in Elberta. Navarre Chamber to host Tropical Golf Classic The Navarre Chamber's 19th Annual Golf Classic will be held on October 5 The Club at Hidden Creek, with proceeds benefiting scholarships for Navarre High School seniors. The tournament is open to players and non-players alike in a 'best ball' format. Prizes will be awarded to first, second and third place teams and also for closest to the pin and longest drive for both male and female. Cash incentives include the $10,000 hole-in-one prize is sponsored by Holley Navarre Medical Center and the 2nd annual helicopter 'ball drop' where one person will win up to $5000 cash. Registration begins at 9 a.m. with a shotgun start at 10 a.m. Both individual and corporate player packages are available.
