GBSA goes 6-2 to open new home
Tiger Point Mini Mites win first game

Blayne Richardson was certainly smiling on Saturday.
The former GBSA midget football player, who died of a gunshot wound back in November was remembered by all midget and junior players with white #5 on the back of their helmets. A banner underneath the scoreboard also honored their former teammate.
As for the action on the field, both GBSA midgets and their juniors team were winners against Pace Saturday on their new Multi Purpose Field behind the library. Both mites teams, as well as the Mighty Mites, also won, with the White Mini Mites (7-6) and the Blue Mini Mites (7-0) as the lone losers Saturday.
The Blue Midgets' game was the game of the day Saturday, with Gulf Breeze posting a 14-6, triple overtime win. Cooper Jones caught a 15-yard pass from Landon Cagle to win it, but only after GBSA stopped Pace.
Preston Sellers, who was injured near the end of regulation, scored on a 43-yard run late in the first quarter. The rest of the results are as follows:
Juniors 14, Pace 12: Mitchell deKozan scored on an 11-yard run wtih 1:29 left in the game, while Jordan Bennett, who scored a 12- yard touchdown earlier in the game, intercepted a pass with 43 seconds left to seal the win for Gulf Breeze.
White Midgets 6, Pace Blue 0: Michael Hawkins' 11 yard run with 29 seconds left was the difference as the GBSA White Midgets defeated Pace Blue.
Blue Mites 6, Pace Red 0: Jacob Kubik's third quarter 70-yard touchdown run, two plays after Chris Welt forced a fumble, was the difference as the Blue Mites edged Pace Red.
White Mites 23, Pace Blue 22: In what would be the 'second game of the day,' Matthew deMahy and Bradley Proctor made a fourth down stop with less than a minute to go to give the White Mites a win over Pace Red.
Daniel Harris scored the first Gulf Breeze touchdown, with deMahy kicking the two-point extra point.
Proctor recovered a fumble, which led to Parker Baynes' 87-yard touchdown with 4:34 left in the first half. deMahy's PAT made it 16-7.
Pace got to within two before deMahy's 40-yard touchdown run with 4:06 left in the third quarter made it 22-14. Pace got and went for one, making it, with 5:57 left in the game.
Mighty Mites 14, Pace 6: Chandler Burtt ran for 148 yards and scored two touchdowns, while brother Coleman Burtt had 80 yards and scored both extra points to lead the Mighty Mites to victory.
Nathan Golman had 35 yards rushing, while Chandler Burtt recovered a fumble that was forced by Kevin Dorf.
Tiger Point went 1-2 in their first ever action at Navarre, but their thoughts weren't on their games.
Tiger Point midget player Luke Niles suffered a broken leg in the first half. He left the field via ambulance and surgery was needed. He spent Saturday night at Baptist Hospital.
The game was scoreless at the time and ended 26-0.
Navarre Black Midgets 26, Tiger Point 0: Among the standouts in that game were quarterback Gray Dorsey, running back C.J. Nelson and cornerback Matt Kolokouris.
Navarre Black Mites 22, Tiger Point 0: Twenty seven out of the 30 Tiger Point Mites played their first ever football games Saturday.
Leading the defense was Tom Bixler with eight tackles, while Jeffrey Tonti had six. Nathan Paulcheck recovered a fumble, while Zack Arner had a 17-yard run.
Tiger Point Mini Mites 13, Navarre Black 6: Nicky Myers had a 70-yard touchdown run, while Nico Ynostrosa had a 60-yarder to lead Tiger Point to its park's first ever win.
James Parsons and Devin Rogers had good defensive games
for Tiger Point, who play their first home games September 15.
