Lady Dolphin golf team wins first two matches of season
Four players shoot 40 or less in two nine-hole matches

The Gulf Breeze Lady Dolphin golf team got off to a strong start to their 2007 season, winning its first two matches by an average of 43 shots.
Gulf Breeze opened its season on Aug. 28 against Catholic at Osceola. The match, originally scheduled for 18 holes, was scaled back to nine holes due to the weather.
In her first ever GBHS match, freshman Sarah Hicks was the low medalist with a two-over 38. Kristen Dorsey, Ashleigh Ryals and Angela Whidby all shot 40s, while Courtney Trevino shot a 48.
For Catholic, Amanda dela Cruz led the way with a 39. Claire Griffith shot a 50, followed by Chelsea Gatterdam (53), Sunny Harris and Courtney Pancharian (both 54s).

The next day, Gulf Breeze was at home at Tiger Point against Pace, beating the Lady Patriots by 48 (156-204). Pace's Haley Millsap shot a two-under 34 to take home the low medalist award.

Dorsey led Gulf Breeze with a 35, followed by Hicks (37), Ryals and Whidby (42) and Trevino (46).
April Thompson shot a 39 for Pace, followed by Katy Neal (63) and Kristyn Joiner (68).
In the first boys' match of the season, team total of 338 behind Catholic's 303.
Patrick Dorsey multiple long putts in route to an 86 in his first action as a freshman on the team.
Evan Smith, also a freshman, made the popular number 86 with multiple pars.
John Foryt chipped in on 14, the hardest par 3 at Osceola, on his way to an 86.
T.J. Jordan, playing #2 position this year for the team, Jordan had a rough outing but finished strong, making birdie on 18 for an 86.
Grant McCormick bogeyed the first 5 holes on his way to a shaky start, but recovered well, making birdie on 3 of the next 4 holes to shoot 38 on the front nine. McCormick parred his first 6 holes on the back before double bogeying 16, bogeying 17, and parring 18 for a 39 and 77 total.
Gulf Breeze then played in a three team match Thursday at Hidden Creek. Fort Walton won with a 161, followed by Navarre (181) and Gulf Breeze (188).
Due to a knee problem, McCormick was withdrawn from play only moments before the first tee. .
Jordan birdied holes 1 and 2. Smith, playing in the number 3 position, parred holes 2, 4, and 5. Foryt chipped in for par on hole 9. Dorsey, also a freshman, parred hole 9 and lipped out a birdie on hole 7.
The girls team plays Navarre at Hidden Creek today at 3 p.m. after playing Niceville at Rocky Bayou Tuesday (after the News' deadline). The boys team played Catholic, Milton and Pace Tuesday at Scenic Hills.
