The Dolphins' Kickoff Classic was a learning experience for players and coaches alike. The ninth grade and junior varsity squads both played a quarter against Crestview's freshmen. They lost by a combined score of 42-0.
"I was disappointed in our JV kids," coach Chris Nemith said.
They knew what the game was going to be like."
The JV Dolphins played most of their quarter without one of their top defensive players, who was benched after a personal foul. "Those kids of things will get you beat," Nemith said.
When he went out, it just took the wind out of their sails."
The freshman squad racked up 10 yards in total offense, giving up 21 points to the Bulldog freshman squad.
"I told them they're not going to play the junior Cowboys in Cantonment - this is a whole new level of football," Nemith said.
Crestview held the Dolphin JV to 16 yards of offense, 20 of them on two runs by Ben Lively.
Michael Mann completed a 13- yard pass to Adam Woods on their second series, but GBHS would turn the ball over on downs.

Right tackle Tyrone Covyeow went down with a knee injury the first play of the game - a 5-yard pass From Kyle Schnackenberg to Justin Hurd.
Schnackenberg completed a 19-yard pass to Cody Warford and a five-yarder to Philip Hoffman before being forced to punt.
Brandon Van Camp recorded a sack on second down against the Bulldogs, who punted two plays later. Schnackenberg led the Dolphins inside the Crestview 10- yard like before hurting his knee after a nine-yard scamper.
The drive would end on a missed field goal.
The defense would rise to the occasion, holding the Bulldogs to 64 yards of offense. "They showed what type of character they have," Nemith said.
