Hey Mon! Get ready for fun in the sun with reggae flair this weekend at Portofino Boardwalk on Pensacola Beach. The 2007 Jamaican Festival, taking place Friday, Aug. 31 through Sunday, Sept. 2, will feature five different bands on two stages, a bathtub race and a bikini contest. The event will culminate Sunday afternoon with the Anything That Floats/Bathtub Race and Red Stripe Bikini Contest. The event will also feature a kid friendly environment Saturday and Sunday with various activities and events for the little ones. Many of the boardwalk merchants will hold sales in support of the event. The entertainment schedule is as follows: Friday, Aug. 31 - Milele Roots, 4 p.m. at the Bamboo Willie's Stage; Vibe IRE, 6 p.m. at the Half Shell Stage and Ba'nana Republic, 9 p.m. at the Bamboo Willie's Stage. Saturday, Sept. 1 - Vibe IRE, 12 p.m. at the Bamboo Willie's Stage; Top Celebrity Crew, 1 p.m. at the Half Shell Stage; Milele Roots, 5 p.m. at the Bamboo Willie's Stage; One Jamaican, 6 p.m. at the Half Shell Stage and Ba'nana Republic, 10 p.m. at the Bamboo Willie's Stage. Sunday, Sept. 2 - One Jamaican, 1p.m. at the Bamboo Willie's Stage, Vibe IRE, 2p.m. at the Half Shell stage, Anything That Floats/Bathtub Race, 2 p.m. in Santa Rosa Sound behind Bamboo Willie's; Ba'nana Republic, 3 p.m. at the Bamboo Willie's Stage and the Red Stripe Bikini Contest, 5 p.m. at Bamboo Willie's. The Kid Zone entertainment schedule includes: Saturday, Sept. 1 - Zoo mobile, 2 p.m. to 3 p.m.; face painters, 2 p.m. to 6 p.m.; magician, 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. and Pensacola Pelicans Mascot "Scoop," 3 p.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 2 - Zoo mobile, 1 p.m. to 2 p.m.; face painters, 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.; magician, 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. and Pensacola Pelicans Mascot "Scoop," 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. |
