Many events planned to save the Zoo Many different groups are lending their support to saving the Zoo of Northwest Florida, which recently announced that it needs $1 million to survive past the end of the year. The Feast with the Beasts, a fundraiser featuring samples of food prepared by many different local restaurants, is coming soon and a firm date will be announced next week. At the event, the Zoo's naturally wild pathways will be lined with local restaurateurs as guests stroll through, sampling cuisines from around the world. Cost is $80 per person or $150 per couple and includes a ride on the Safari Line Ltd Train thru the 30 acres wildlife preserve. There will be dancing under the stars, with live entertainment from the Reunion Band. Attendees can pose for a picture with an exotic "Beast." Feast with the Beast 2007 is the first annual event benefiting The Zoo - Northwest Florida. Kids Fest is Oct. 13, entertainment, safety programs, exhibits and fun for the family. Cost is $5 admission (plus tax) into The Zoo Northwest Florida for children and adults with a new toy donation. New toys will be donated to Communities Caring at Christmas. The Festival of the Trees will be Nov. 15 and 18, featuring beautifully decorated Christmas trees which will be auctioned off with proceeds going to the Zoo. Zoolights begins Nov. 23.
