Sports Briefs Due to the high temperatures, the Gulf Coast Youth Football jamborees, originally scheduled for last Saturday, have been moved to this Saturday. Week 1's games, scheduled for August 25, have been moved to Week 10, with Weeks 2 through 9 staying in place. GBSA will be at Bellview, while Tiger Point will be playing at Albritton and Gant (by the Roger Scott Tennis Center). Each team will play two 25-minute, running clock games. GBSA's Mighty Mites will play Pensacola at 9 a.m. and Bellview at 10. The White Mini Mites will play Pensacola at 9:30 a.m. and Bellview Green at 11 a.m. The Blue Mini Mites will face Bellview Gold at 10:30 and Bellview Green at 11:30. The White Mites will play Bellview Green and Pensacola at 12:30 and 1 p.m. respectively, while the Blue Mites will play Bellview Gold and Bellview Green at 1:30 and 2 p.m. The White Midgets will play Bellview Green and Pensacola at 3 and 3:30 p.m. respectively, while the Blue Midgets will play Bellview Gold and Bellview Green at 4 and 4:30 p.m. The Juniors will play Pensacola and Bellview at 5:30 and 6 p.m. Tiger Point will be playing Cantonment Maroon and White. The mini mites will play at 11:30 a.m. and noon, the mites at 1:30 and 2 p.m. and the midgets at 3:30 and 4 p.m. Quarterback Club selling stadium seats The hard back seats in front of the press box at Dolphin Stadium are now on sale to the general public for the 2007 football season. Alternate tryout for Pensacola Pelicans Fall Showcase Saturday The alternate tryout date for the Pensacola Pelicans Fall Showcase Team will be Saturday August 25 from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. at Pelican Park on the campus of the University of West Florida. Cost per player will be $1,000, which covers tournament entry fees, equipment/ uniforms, coach fees, team insurance, field use fees, umpire fees and unlimited use of Pelicans Training Academy. There will be sponsorship opportunities and a payment plan to assist with enrollment. Gulf Breeze Sertoma Family Fishing Rodeo this weekend The annual Gulf Breeze Sertoma Family Fishing Rodeo is Aug. 25-26. Cost is $10 per person. SERTOMA (service to mankind) and the Gulf Breeze Sertoma donated over $20,000 last year to: DARE, US troops in Iraq, Big Brother and Big Sister, numerous activities at Gulf Breeze schools, Gulf Breeze and Tiger Point Sports Associations, among others. Everyone and anyone can win prizes in 16 fish categories with three prizes for each type fish. A 'Party Pod' is set up at the park with music, food and soft drinks. Parents and players can meet the new coach Bobby Young and the softball club will outline club activities and fundraising for this upcoming year. St. Ann's People 4 People 5K Run/Walk Sept. 8 Register now for the St. Ann People 4 People 5k Run/Walk September 8! The run, which supports Christian service activities of the parish, starts at 8 a.m. from the parking lot of St. Ann at 100 Daniel Drive, Gulf Breeze. Five major award categories and several age categories can compete for awards, and all registered participants are treated to a pancake breakfast at the award ceremony immediately after the race. Registration is $15 for early registration (ages 13 and up), $20 after September 6. Without the t-shirt, registration is $10. You can pick up your bib number and t-shirt at the St. Ann Parish Hall on Friday Sept. 7 from 3 to 7 p.m. or 6:30 a.m. the day of the race. Free child care will be available at the church from 7:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Saturday if you make a reservation with your registration.
