Gowens Park to be dedicated tomorrow

Pensacola Beach Chamber of Commerce will host a dedication and ribbon cutting at the newly named Harry G. Gowens Memorial Park, Friday, August 24 at 5:30 p.m. The park is located 200 Via de Luna on Pensacola Beach.

Harry Gowens, who passed away last year, was a longtime beach resident, businessman and founder of Pensacola Beach Elementary School.

"Mr. Harry left the children on Pensacola Beach an incredible legacy," Jeff Elbert, president of the Pensacola Beach Chamber of Commerce said. "The Chamber is proud to honor him with this park."

The ribbon cutting will be preceded by seventh grade beach resident Savannah Green singing the National Anthem while local Cub Scouts present the colors. Boogie, Inc. will provide the music.

Soft drinks will be served. For more information, contact Sandy Johnston at 850-932-1500.
