A view from the Sound
Morning breaks over Pensacola Beach. The Quietwater Boardwalk pier is in the foreground, with South Harbor and Verandas Condominiums rising into the Florida sky. Area students returned to class Monday, although the official end to the summer tourist season is still a few weeks away, on Labor Day weekend. Recent tropical activity spared the area, but has raised awareness of the potential threat. The last major storm to hit our area was Hurricane Dennis, in July of 2005.
