ENTERTAINMENT BRIEFS The Pensacola Museum of Art (PMA) will host its 2007 "Members' Juried Exhibition" Aug. 24 through Oct. 6. An Opening Reception and Awards Ceremony will be held on Friday, Aug. 24 from 5 to 7 p.m. Awards will be given for Best of Show, 1st, 2nd, 3rd places and 4 Honorable Mentions. The annual "Members' Juried Exhibition" celebrates the artistic endeavors of the Museum's members. Each year, the exhibition is filled with a diverse collection of works that range from traditional painting styles and 3 dimensional pieces to more contemporary pieces and mediums. The featured works must have been created within the last two years and have not been shown locally. From the submitted entries, this year's juror and judge, Arthur Roger, will choose 75 works for the exhibition. In 1978 Arthur Roger opened his gallery in New Orleans' Garden District when the artistic scene in the city was beginning to flourish. The Arthur Roger Gallery moved to the forefront of galleries in the city and it attracted a number of New Orleans' most prominent artists. Baytowne Wharf features art expo Visit The Village of Baytowne Wharf for inspiration, creativity and excitement at the Baytowne Wharf Art Expo from 5- 10 p.m., Friday- Sunday, Aug. 31 through Sept. 2. Select artists from across the Southeast will showcase a wide variety of mediums, styles and techniques ranging from one-of-a-kind masterpieces to fun and functional creations. Diverse artwork from featured guests such as Tricia Robinson, Eddie and Sally Powell, and John Paul Daniel, aka Bebo will please a variety of tastes. Robinson is a self-taught artist who found her style through the joy and warmth of bright color and bold composition. Inspired by English gardens, the meadows of Switzerland, colorful Parisian streets and her own backyard in Birmingham, her whimsical paper, mixed media and acrylic artwork is always cheerful and uplifting. Eddie and Sally Powell work predominantly with the palette knife and paint subjects indigenous to Northwest Florida. Patrons enjoy creations focusing on subjects such as famous local landmarks, horses and other wildlife, and the colorful "Ladies in Hats" series. Their work is featured in coffee houses and galleries from Atlanta to Grayton Beach including Ceruleans at WaterColor and Big Mama's Hula Girl Gallery in Grayton Beach. Folk artist Bebo uses old barn wood- oak, poplar, maple, ash or whatever is available- to create gators, fish and other critters, faces and signs ranging in size from one foot to 12 feet. These unique pieces are made for both indoor and outdoor use and are made from a variety of materials including sawmill lumber and tractor paint. Critter creations come from inspiration but Bebo will also do critters by commission. Spectators will not only be able to stroll the streets of this charming seaside village under the stars during the incredible outside art festival but will also be entertained by innovative live music in the Events Plaza throughout the weekend. In addition, guests will be able to shop to their hearts content at the Labor Day Sidewalk Sale taking place from 10 a.m.- 9 p.m., Aug. 31- Sept. 3 at The Village of Baytowne Wharf.
