Jason Thompson/Gulf Breeze News Tiger models Maria and Nico Ynostrosa model the cheerleader and football uniforms for the newly-minted Tiger Point football and cheerleaders. Maria, age 6, had a lot to cheer for as Nico, age 8, scored the Mini Mites' second touchdown in a 13-6 win over Pace Red Saturday at a jamboree in Milton. Maria and Nico are the daughter and son of Amy and Rudy Ynostrosa.
The Tiger Point Mini Mites got touchdowns from Dustin Rogers and Nico Ynostrosa as they beat Pace Red 13-6 in a preseason jamboree Saturday in Milton.

"They all did real well," head coach Nick Myers. "We're going to be good. I'm very optimistic."

Rogers' 70-yard run made it 6-0, with Nick Myers running in the extra point. Ynostrosa scored from about 50 yards out for the team's other score.

Bobby Murphy, Dylan Brayton, James Parsons, Tristan Diamond and Andrew Dorsey turned in stellar games on defense.

The Mites lost to Pace Red 21-0. "It was so dadgum hot, we we're just trying to get through it," coach Shane Player said.

Fullback Tom Bixler had a strong game running the ball, while linebacker Travis Parkins and defensive back Brett Schonewolf had multiple tackles on defense.

The midgets' game was cancelled due to heat.

Tiger Point will play in another preseason jamboree this Saturday at the Roger Scott Sports Complex. The mini mites play at 11:30 and noon, the mites at 1:30 and 2 p.m. and the midgets at 3:30 and 4 p.m. All three teams will play Cantonment Maroon and White.
