INA MOODY HYER 1922 -2007

Ina Moody Hyer, 85, died peacefully with family members by her bedside Sunday, August 5, 2007 at Gulf Breeze Hospital.

She is survived by her daughters, Ina Dickerson and Linda (Robert) Murphy of Gulf Breeze, Fla. and Carol Anne (Tom) Perkins of Vienna, Va.; son Robert (Jo) Hyer of Lillian, Ala.; grandchildren, Jonathan Dickerson of Pensacola, Madison Murphy of Gulf Breeze, Jennifer Perkins (Brent) Tingle of Charlotte, N.C., Jeffrey Perkins of Irvine Calif. and Mary Cameron Rollins of Lillian, Ala.; and great-granddaughter Ella Tingle of Charlotte. Ina is also survived by niece and nephews, Betty R. (Jim) Burkes, Roger (Eugenia) Moody of Hueytown, Ala., and Robert L. (Joyce) Moody of Simpsonville, S.C.; and cousin, Terry (Richard) Brent of Orlando, Fla.

Native Mississippian, Ina was born in Langsdale, Miss., worked in Jackson during World War II when she became widowed. Ina and former husband Cliff Hemming owned Hemming Insurance and Real Estate Agency in Meridian.

In 1968, Ina married the late Louie Hyer and together they lived on Perdido Key, Florida for 25 years, before living on Pensacola Beach and in Gulf Breeze. She retired from the Escambia County Property Appraiser's Office after more than 20 years service. Ina remained a faithful member of Saint Francis of Assisi Episcopal Church. She also enjoyed membership at the Pensacola Beach Women's Club and Hoe 'N' Hum Garden Club.

Ina dearly loved her family, preparing southern cuisine and entertaining at home. Gardening and playing bridge with close friends on Pensacola Beach brought her great joy. New Orleans' restaurant Galatoire's remained her favorite and she cherished her visits. Ina Moody Hyer was a wonderful mother and grandmother. She was a friend to all and will be greatly missed.

A funeral service will be held at 11 am., Saturday, August 11 at Saint Francis of Assisi Episcopal Church of Gulf Breeze.
