Boating course August 11

U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary Flotilla 1-7 of Pensacola will teach America's Boating Course on Saturday August 11 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at West Marine 3850 Barrancas Ave.

Course covers navigation, rules of the road, personal safety equipment, personal watercraft guidelines, boating laws, and boating for hunting, fishing, and water skiing.

Florida law requires that all individuals 21 and under have a Florida Boat Operators License in order to operate a vessel of 10 or more horsepower (including personal watercraft) without supervision.

This course is approved by the U.S. Coast Guard and meets all qualifications for the Florida boating license. The cost is $35. Many boat insurance companies offer discounts for successfully completing the course.

Please pre-register if possible by calling 777-9645. Dates and locations of future classes can be found at www.pensacolaauxiliary.com.
