PLAN YOUR SUMMER
'Evenings' to hold birthday bash for Seville Quarter

Lamansdorf
Seville Quarter's Rosie O'Grady's is celebrating its 40th birthday at Evenings in Olde Seville Square from 7- 9:15 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 9, and everybody is invited. Seville Quarter will bring the Dueling Pianos and Mike Quinn to the Seville Square gazebo for an evening of premier entertainment. Combined with the 20th anniversary season of Evenings in Olde Seville Square, concertgoers can expect a big birthday bash that is fun for the whole family. This concert is sponsored by Seville Quarter.

The evening kicks off with the Pledge of Allegiance led by Seville Quarter's "next generation," the 14 grandchildren of Seville Quarter's owner Wilmer Mitchell. Following is one of Seville's favorite entertainers, Mike Quinn on guitar, delivering his country, folk and bluegrass rhythms with smooth and sultry vocals.

Tony Baragona along with Steve "Kiu" Mancuso and the show's heartthrob, James Taylor will head up Seville Quarter's famous Dueling Piano show. Their repertoire spans from Jerry Lee Lewis's "Great Balls of Fire" (with the Rosie's bartenders actually blowing fire) to "YMCA" and show tunes such as "Greased Lightning" from the musical, "Grease."

The Rosie OGradys 40th anniversary celebration will include a performance of the duelling pianos Aug. 9.
Uncle Sam will also be on hand to pose for photographs and greet the crowd. Seville Quarter's adopted brother, Ivan Levine, will be giving out commemorative 40th-anniversary balloons and the Mitchell and Williams children will be handing out special Rosie O'Grady's birthday fans.

The perfect ending to another Evenings in Olde Seville Square summer season, Clark & Company will return for their traditional Encore! performance on Thursday, Aug. 16.

When attending concerts, bring a lawn chair or a blanket for seating.

Author to speak at Star Spangled Dinner

Jean Debelle Lamensdorf, author of "Write Home for Me", is coming to speak at Pensacola Opera's Star Spangled Dinner

"Would you write home for me?" is what Jean Debelle Lamensdorf, author of "Write Home For Me", would hear often from injured soldiers while she was an Australian Red Cross volunteer in Vietnam in 1966.

To hear the guest speaker, Jean Debelle Lamensdorf discuss some of her adventures and experiences, come to Pensacola Opera's Star Spangled Dinner Aug. 11 at the Mustin Beach Officer's Club. Cocktails are at 6p.m. followed by Dinner and Speaker at 7p.m. There will also be a live auction during the evening. Cost for this event is $50 per person.

Jean Debelle Lamansdorf was a journalist at the Adelaide Advertiser in 1966 and wanted to become involved in the biggest story of the decade-the Vietnam War. Since only male journalists were being sent to Vietnam to report, Lamensdorf joined the Australian Red Cross in order to dive into the live action personally. But by joining the Australian Red Cross she unraveled a new purpose for why she was truly supposed to be there for that year. To hear more about her purpose, come hear her presentation in person Aug. 11. Be prepared to be captivated emotionally by this woman's humanity under fire.
