The Shaeffers, who have been instrumental in the Tiger Point Rec Soccer program, as well as the Bayside Soccer Club, had Tiger Point's west soccer field named in their honor at a recent soccer booster club meeting.
Bayside Soccer Club has unanimously voted to name the Tiger Point west soccer field Shaeffer Field in honor of Darrell and Debbie Shaeffer. This includes the past two Bayside Presidents as well.

The Shaeffers ran the first organized recreational program at Tiger Point and have managed rec soccer since its inception there.

In addition, Darrell has been Bayside Soccer's Vice President and tournament director for the last three years. Debbie has served as the Florida Youth Soccer Association (FYSA) Assistant District Commissioner and has selflessly helped all the clubs and rec programs in our area.

Prior to the opening of TP park the Shaeffers were very involved in all aspects of service at GBSA, including Darrell being soccer commissioner and Debbie very involved with the Ladies Auxiliary.

"The Shaeffers are one of the most respected families in the local soccer community," Bayside Soccer Club President Mike Miller said. "The great relations that we have with the Esca- Rosa rec program, Navarre Youth Soccer Association, Pensacola Futbol Club, Futbol Club Santa Rosa, and FYSA may be attributed to the Shaeffer's selfless dedication to all the kids. It will take many volunteers to fill their shoes."

Bayside parent Kristy Suelflow echoed Miller's sentiments. "They have contributed so much to the Bayside Family, that many people will have to fill their shoes," she said.

The Shaeffers recently relocated to New Palestine Ind., which is 10 minutes southeast of Indianapolis.
