U14 team wins at Summer Sizzler
Justin Ratte threw a six-hitter, striking out 10. He also had a two-run double to tie the game in the bottom of the first. Gulf Breeze then blew the game open with a seven-run second inning, scoring all seven with two outs. Trevor Challenor hit a three-run double in the inning before Michael Mann hit a three-run triple. Chance Winn added a twoout, two-run double in the fifth inning. Jase Brown went 2-for-2 and scored twice, while Taylor Webb went 2-for-2 with a triple and scored twice.
Dolphins 5, Escambia Thunder 3 The Dolphins scored three runs in the bottom of the fifth inning Sunday, moments before the one hour, 45 minute time limit elapsed. Brown went 2-for-3 with a double and scored once, while Webb hit two singles. Trip Rowe doubled and scored once, while Ratte and Eric Burke both singled and scored once. Challenor walked and scored a run. Dolphins 5, Denham Springs (La.) Tigers 1 A three-run fourth inning was the difference for the Dolphins Saturday.

Dolphins 7, Fort Walton 7 Fort Walton rallied from a 7- 0 deficit with three in the sixth and four in the seventh before time expired. The Dolphins were hitless over the final five innings. U-10 The Gulf Breeze Dolphins, with only six players from their Dizzy Dean All Star team and nine in all, avenged a 15-1 loss to Pace before losing to Carrollton (Ga.) in the championship game. Carrollton (Ga.) 7, Dolphins 2 Nick Henry and Mitchell Robbins accounted for all the Dolphins' hits in a loss to Carrollton in the title game.
Dolphins 12, Pace 10 (eight innings) Jacob Kubik went 4-for-4, including a three-run homer in the eighth inning, to lift Gulf Breeze past Pace. Kubik also doubled and scored three times, while Robbins doubled three times and scored twice. Henry and Hoover both had two hits and one run scored, while Mitch Grant and Tyler Ueberschaer both scored twice. Pace 15, Dolphins 1 A 10-run first and a five-run second was all Pace would need to win Saturday. Henry's single plated Zak Dobar for the Dolphins' lone run. Dobar also singled in the third, while Will Greer singled in the fourth. U-12 The Slammers finished fourth in their age bracket after a 14-12 loss to the Navarre Thunder. The Thunder scored eight runs in their final at bat. Chad Wise, J.R. Schultz and Luke Niles all scored twice, while Josh Hyland and Jacob Doyle both singled and scored once. Matt Kolokouris and Benjamin Scarbourough both scored once. Dolphins 8, West Leon Bearcats 6 The Dolphins broke a 6-6 tie with two in the fifth to finish fifth in the tournament. Graham Kaplan doubled and scored three times, while Ben Davis doubled and scored twice. Cooper Jones went 2-for-4, while Andy Creech doubled and scored once. Emo Diaz and Ryan Burke both scored once, while Davis struck out two to get the win in relief. Slammers 14, Dolphins 1 Jonathon Burkett and Luke Niles combined on a no-hitter and seven strikeouts in the Slammers' win over the Dolphins. Kolokouris went 3-for-3 and scored three times, while Hyland went 2-for-3 with a double and scored three times. Doyle scored twice, while Niles, Wise, Scarborough, Josh Goldstein and Cass Warford all scored once. Jones scored the lone run for the Dolphins. St. Bernard (La.) 7, Slammers 6 The Slammers left three runners on base over the final two innings of a loss to St. Bernard. Wise went 3-for-4 and scored once, while Scarborough and J.R. Schultz both had two hits. Hyland, Kolokouris, Goldstein and Warford all scored once. St. Bernard 11, Dolphins 8 Kaplan scored twice, while Davis and Burke singled and scored a run in the loss to St. Bernard. Jones, Diaz, Parker Frost and Curington all scored once in the loss. |
