New era of football begins at Tiger Point

Nearly 100 kids became Tiger Point Tiger football players for the first time as practice opened Monday at Tiger Point Park.

Tiger Point will field three teams this season - Mini Mites (ages 7-8), Mites (ages 9-10) and Midgets (ages 11-12).

Will Myers is the head coach of the 26-member Mini Mites, Shane Player the coach of the 33-member Mites team and Mike Maddox and 40-member Midget squad.

Tiger Point's teams will play in a preseason jamboree August 18 at Roger Scott Park. Tiger Point's first regular season home games are ascheduled for Sept. 15 vs. Northwest Escambia. Schedules can be found at www.gcyfa. com.
