New era of football begins at Tiger Point
      Nearly 100 kids became Tiger Point Tiger football players for the first time as practice opened Monday at Tiger Point Park. Tiger Point will field three teams this season - Mini Mites (ages 7-8), Mites (ages 9-10) and Midgets (ages 11-12).

      The GBSA 9U All Star team, the Wave, went 1-1 in its first two games at the Dizzy Dean World Series this past weekend in Southaven, Miss. The Wave beat the Rockdale (Ga.) Raptors 10-0 before losing to Fossil Park 20-7.

U14 team wins at Summer Sizzler

      The Gulf Breeze 13-14 year old Dolphins won the 16th annual GBSA Summer Sizzler, beating Fort Walton Beach 11-3 in the championship game. Justin Ratte threw a six-hitter, striking out 10. He also had a two-run double to tie the game in the bottom of the first.
