GBSA 6-year-olds go 3-0 in pool play at World Series

Jason Thompson/Gulf Breeze News Celebration time again? Rick Wirth celebrates with son Spencer after the GBSA U6 All Stars won the state title recently at Shoreline Park. The U6s won their first three games at the World Series this past weekend in McDonough, Ga.
The GBSA U6 All Stars got off to a strong start at the Dizzy Dean World Series in McDonough, Ga., winning all three of its pool play games Friday and Saturday.

Gulf Breeze 21,

Hobgood, Ga. 12

Chance Napier, Steele Chambers and Carter Sheppard all hit inside the park home runs to help Gulf Breeze win its opener with Hobgood.

Chambers missed hitting for the cycle by a single, hitting a triple, a double, and scoring three times. Napier and Sheppard both scored twice.

Joseph McPhetridge, Jake Weldon, Spencer Wirth, Tyler Dittmer and Jonathon Ueberschaer all scored twice. Weldon tripled in the win, while Wirth and McPhetridge hit doubles.

GBSA 22,

Locust Grove, Ga. 2

Chambers doubled, tripled and scored four times, while Tyler Gore doubled twice and scored once to lead Gulf Breeze past Locust Grove.

Napier, Dittmer and Ueberschaer all had a double and scored three times, while Sheppard doubled and scored twice. Weldon and McPhetridge also scored twice in the win.

GBSA 23, Acworth, Ga. 22

Cayson McCurdy's single in the bottom of the sixth scored Clay Clifton to give Gulf Breeze a perfect 3-0 pool play record.

Chambers, Weldon and Clifton all hit inside the park homers in the win. Chambers scored three times, while Weldon and Clifton both scored twice.

Napier tripled three times and scored three times, while Wirth tripled twice and scored twice. McCurdy hit a triple and scored twice.

Dittmer hit a double and scored three times, while McPhetridge and Ueberschaer both doubled and scored twice. Paul Snider scored once in the win.

Gulf Breeze was one of 24 teams to make the double elimination championship tournament. They won their first round game against Hobgood, but lost their second round game against the MV Predators. Look for the results in next week's issue of the Gulf Breeze News.
