Tiger Point 8's take third at state

The Tiger Point 8-under All Stars lost to Pinellas Park 19-17 in the semifinals of the Dizzy Dean State Tournament July 17 at Seminole. The Tigers took third in the 12-team tournament.

Pinellas Park led 9-2 after an inning and a half before Tiger Point scored two in the second and seven in the third to take an 11-9 lead. Pinellas put up five runs in the fourth to take the lead for good.

Tiger Point got to within a run in both the fourth and fifth innings, but couldn't push the tying run across. They left five runners on in the game.

Jack Martin went 4-for-4 and scored four times, while Stephen Huggins went 3-for-4 and scored three times. Bryan Richards and James Parsons both had two hits.

Tiger Point 8, Wildwood 7

Martin's sac fly with no one out in the sixth inning scored Huggins as Tiger Point rallied from a 7-4 deficit with two in the fifth and two in the sixth to win July 16.

Huggins went 4-for-4 and scored twice in the win, while Martin went 3-for-4 with an RBI. Parsons hit a two-run homer in the fifth, scoring Martin. Trevor Robinson had two hits and scored once.
