Got a bachelor's? PJC shows you how to be a teacher

Florida is short 20,000 teachers due to a surge in students, a spike in teacher retirements and a slash in class sizes.

To increase teacher numbers, Pensacola Junior College offers Educator Preparation Institutes orientations at its three campuses.

Q&A sessions are scheduled for 6 p.m. at all locations:

Monday, Aug. 6, Pensacola campus, Building 2100, Room 2142.

Tuesday, Aug. 7, Milton campus, Building 4900, Room 4902.

Wednesday, Aug. 8, Warrington campus, Building 3700, Room 3729.

EPIs provide competencybased instruction for bachelor's degree holders that leads to temporary and full teacher certification. PJC offers the stateapproved competency-based Alternative Certification Program for people who already hold noneducation bachelors' degrees.

The institutes also provide professional development for teachers, training for substitute teachers and paraprofessional instruction.
