Sadler's Sweet Treats to close
Owner to pursue performing, writing and directing career
Mary Ann Sadler
Mary Ann Sadler sold her ice cream truck and "Sadler's Sweet Treats" is saying farewell to the community. Though she has given up being the "Ice Cream Lady" she continues her primary career of performing, directing, and writing. Sadler is currently playing Queen Maude in the Princess and the Pea; a Pensacola Little Theatre's Acorn Children's Theatre production of the Hans Christian Andersen classic. The play opened July 6 in the Pensacola Cultural Center's M.C. Blanchard Courtroom.
Sadler has a B.A. in Communication Arts and Theatre and has been in numerous secular plays, but, her favorites are plays with a Christ-like message. She has worked in Radio and Television as an Operations Engineer, Production Assistant, and On- Air Host. She has acted in the following plays: The Best Christmas Pageant Ever as Mrs. Armstrong; South Pacific as Bloody Mary; Oliver as Mrs. Sowerberry; as Helen Potts; You Can't Take It with You as Rheba and more. She performed as Mary, Mother of Jesus in His Wonderful Presence...Then and Now... By Mary Ann Sadler; Nanny in The Crook and The Nanny"; Becka Sue in Trial by Error by Bette Dale Moore; Eleanor Richmond in Four Tickets to Christmas by Deborah Craig-Claar and Mark Hayes; and has had various roles in: Traveling Light by Lawrence Enscoe; ARock and a Hard Place by Lee Eric Shackleford and Robert Montgomery; and The Sheeple Incidents by Gail Blanton.

On Wednesday July 22, Sadler will direct her play His Wonderful Presence...Then and Now at the pm service at Gulf Breeze First Baptist Church. She wrote this play about women in the New Testament and how Jesus directly touched their lives. The play has been enacted in several local Churches and selected churches in other states. Sadler is also conducting a Bible Drama Camp for Middle School students and will be teaching Biblical acting lessons for all ages after school at the First Baptist Church beginning Tuesday, August 28th. Due to requests at various art functions, GNBAA will offer two new classes, each beginning the week of July 23rd, 2007. The first class"Improving Your Digital Photography", taught by local photographer, Michael Loftis will be four sessions, beginning on Wednesday, July 25th. Michael can handle up to eight students who would like to improve their digital photo skills with lessons on: exposure control, light sources, composition and subject matter, and info on the photo industry. The second class "Impressionist Painting in Acrylics", taught by Connie Jones, will be four sessions beginning on Tuesday, July 24, 2007. Using the palette colors of the impressionists and studying their then "revolutionary" paintings, will be the basis of the class. Each class session will be 4 - 5 weeks long. The two teachers are looking for 8-10 students per class, but If there is more demand for a class, they will try and schedule a second session of that class. Each class is $15.00 for the 2-hour class, or all four for $50.00. Students are encouraged to sign up for entire class session. Most classes will be held in the group's Arts Shack location, the building just north of the intersection of Hwy. 87 and East Bay Blvd./399. Gulfcoast Calligraphy Guild

Navarre Lions Club
The Navarre Lions Club held its annual installation of new officers for the new Lionistic Year on June 9th at the Navarre Chamber of Commerce meeting room. Past president Ron Gurta is shown passing the club charter and gavel to the new president Dennis Hufstader. New officers were sworn in by Nell Simmons, district governor elect.
