GB teen now home

Platt
A missing Gulf Breeze teen is now safe at home. Casey Platt, 14, went missing from her father's office at Sacred Heart Hospital on July 2. Her father, Dean Platt, said she turned up around 6 p.m. at the Navarre District 2 Santa Rosa Sheriff's Office the next day.

Posters emblazoned with the words "Missing Child," Platt's picture, and two phone numbers were seen in Gulf Breeze and Navarre.

"We inundated Navarre with those posters," Dean Platt said. "We were pretty certain she was in Navarre."

The Pensacola Police Department (PPD) is handling an investigation and officials said no arrests had been made as of July 12.

"We are following up on where she was and if any adults had any role in her status as a runaway," said PPD Assistant Chief Chip Simmons. "If they were assisting her there would be charges involved."

Platt said his daughter regularly stayed with him in his office this summer. Upon returning from a meeting Platt found a note written by his daughter that said she would contact her family sometime after the July 4 holiday. Platt said he thinks his daughter left with the mother of her friend without getting his permission.

"We've known the mother for several years and we didn't trust her supervision," Platt said. "We cut off relations between her daughter and our daughter."

Platt said concerned friends and parents helped raise awareness about his daughter's disappearance.

"I'd like to thank the awesome Gulf Breeze parents and teenage ladies that did everything they could to help us," Platt said. "The community really came together to help."
