GBSA's 6s World Series bound
9s in title game, 7s lose 11-inning marathon in opener

The Gulf Breeze 6-year-old All Stars won three consecutive games Sunday to win the Dizzy Dean state tournament at Shoreline Park.

Gulf Breeze eliminated the Pinellas Park Predators 25-10 early Sunday morning, then defeated previously unbeaten Pinellas Park All Stars 23-8 and 17-13 to earn a berth into the Dizzy Dean World Series, which starts July 19 at McDonough, Ga.

Steele Chambers had four hits, including a double and a triple, to lead Gulf Breeze to an opening round win Saturday.

Tyler Dittmer singled, doubled, tripled and scored three times, while Joseph McPhetridge had three hits and scored three times.

Carter Sheppard had three hits and scored twice, while Spencer Wirth and Clay Clifton had two hits and two runs scored. Jonathon Ueberschaer had two doubles and scored once.

Gulf Breeze cut a their first inning deficit in half (6-3) before Pinellas Park scored two in the second and five in the third to pull away Saturday.

Chance Napier had three hits, including a double, and scored three times, while McPhetridge, Wirth and Dittmer all had two hits each. Both of Dittmer's hits went for extra bases, while Wirth singled and doubled.

Gulf Breeze 25,

Pinellas Park Predators 10

Napier hit an inside the park home run and scored five times, while Chambers had four hits and five runs scored as Gulf Breeze stayed alive in the losers bracket Sunday.

Jake Weldon had four hits and scored four times, while Wirth had three hits and three runs scored.

Dittmer tripled twice and scored four times, while Clifton had three hits and a run scored.

McPhetridge had two hits and two runs scored, while Sheppard had two hits and a run scored.

Gulf Breeze 23,

Pinellas Park 8

Gulf Breeze scored six of its seven third inning runs with two outs to force the 'if' game with Pinellas Park.

Napier had four hits and scored four times, while Sheppard had four hits and three runs scored.

Chambers and Weldon had three hits and four runs scored, while Tyler Gore had three hits and three runs scored. Wirth and Dittmer both had three hits and two runs scored, while McPhetridge had two hits and two runs scored.

Gulf Breeze 17,

Pinellas Park 13

Gulf Breeze broke an 8-8 third inning tie with three in the fourth and four in the fifth to win the championship.

Dittmer doubled once, tripled twice and scored three times in the win, while Chambers had three hits and two runs scored. Weldon had three hits and one scored.

McPhetridge had two hits and three runs scored, while Napier and Sheppard had two hits and two runs scored.

Ueberschaer had two hits and a run scored, while Tyler Gore went 2-for-4.

9U

The Gulf Breeze 9-year-olds advanced to Monday's championship game with wins over Bill Bond and Fossil Park.

Gulf Breeze 12, Bill Bond 0

Wade Niles and Jace Amberson combined on a four-hit shutout, while Adam Colston hit a two-run, inside the park home run to lead Gulf Breeze to an opening round win on Saturday.

Colston also doubled and drove in four runs, scoring twice, while Zane Gill doubled, tripled, drove in two and scored three times.

Sam Joyce and Nick Liebig both scored twice in the win.

Gulf Breeze 6, Fossil Park 2

Gulf Breeze scored all six of their runs with two outs as they won a battle of two teams that hadn't allowed a single run in three total games.

Liebig hit an RBI double in a four-run first inning, while Niles drove in two with a single. Bradley Proctor scored twice and hit a single, while Colston singled and scored once.

Niles and Gill combined for a three-hitter, striking out eight.

7U

The Gulf Breeze 7-yearolds bounced back from a heartbreaking 11-inning loss to Bill Bond to win a pair of losers bracket games Sunday.

Bill Bond 15,

Gulf Breeze 14

Gulf Breeze were shut out over the final six innings as Bill Bond scored the game-winner with two outs in the 11th.

Deems Edlund went 5-for-6 and scored three runs, while Daniel Green and Josh Hoffman both had four hits. Connor Thompson, Matthew Hawkins, Jesse Grant, Josh Smith, Jake Hering and Gavin Mayes all had three hits.

Gulf Breeze 17, Lynn

Haven 2

Thompson went 4-for-4 and scored twice, while Hawkins, Hoffman, Edlund and Grant all went 3-for-3 as Gulf Breeze stayed alive in the losers bracket.

Green went 3-for-4 with three RBIs and scored three times, while Nick McCain and Smith both had two hits.

Gulf Breeze 19,

Fossil Park 9

Hawkins went 4-for-4 with two RBIs and three runs scored to lead Gulf Breeze past Fossil Park.

Green, Edlund and Hering all had three hits, while Brent Williams, Thompson and Smith all had two hits each.

13U

The GBSA 13-year-olds went 0-2 Saturday.

Northwest All Stars 16,

Gulf Breeze 4

Gulf Breeze got within a run with a three-run second before Northwest scored five in the second, four in the third and three in the fourth.

Clayton Wiley and George Neese both walked and scored in the second, while T.J. Baughn singled and scored.

Westin Demotts reached on a fielder's choice and scored in the fourth inning. James Mozur (single in fifth) and Parker Frost (double in fourth) accounted for the only other GBSA hits.

Tom Brown 12,

Gulf Breeze 2

Gulf Breeze took a 1-0 lead in the first inning, before Tallahassee's Tom Brown scored eight unanswered runs over three innings to eliminate the host team.

Mozur singled and scored in the first, while Neese walked and scored in the fourth.

Wiley and Baughn (singles in the first and second, respectively) accounted for the only other Gulf Breeze hits.
