Thanks to Midway residents and firefighters

I would like to sincerely thank Gulf Breeze and the Midway Professional Firefighters for an excellent Fill the Boot Campaign this year.

The combination of citizens' generosity and firefighters' dedication made it possible to raise over $3,100 to help the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA).

Fire departments throughout the United States remain the top supporters of those with neuromuscular diseases. MPFF offers its time and energy to support MDA, although it receives no tangible compensation for it.

The money Midway raised will directly assist families affected by muscular dystrophy in North Florida. The money can provide free neurological services at Tallahassee Neurological Clinic and HealthSouth Rehabilitation Hospital in Panama City. It will fund purchases of leg braces, wheelchairs and communication devices for those who need them, and provide a fun-filled week of summer camp for "Jerry's kids" at no cost to their families.

On behalf of the MDA, I thank Midway Professional Firefighters for another successful Fill the Boot campaign.

To the people of Gulf Breeze: We appreciate your donations to the firefighters in their mission to help eradicate neuromuscular diseases. Your support remains MDA's hope for a cure!
